i dunt have a turbo yet

but i dunt think anything is wrong with your gauge

youre not gonna get any boost when the car is in (N) nuetral or (P) park

Get an aftermarket boost gauge. The stock one is ungodly slow.

I have a 1987 as well!!

Well I used to have that problem with my guage, it would be at nothing, and you hear your turbo going (I had wide open exhaust for a couple days!). Either way, it just wouldn't go till I was up around 4,500rpm or so, then BOOM! it was up there quicker than a cock at the playboy mansion.

I had actually had some boost leak, and my turbo only went just below the 4 on my guage. (It's the last number on my guage) I had fixed this problem by replacing some vacume lines, and I think I had asked it to work, even offered to get it a hott new sexy temp guage, and some alone time!

I believe it's in somewhere with the vacume lines, but your problem sounds like normal operation...unless it was happening at 4,500 or later, at WOT...like mine.

P.S. Now mine spools up, and is at max by 3,600RPM at WOT...just about RIGHT where it is supposed to be.

Get an aftermarket boost gauge and rid yourself of the horribly slow stock one.

If you do, you will see it come out of vacuum if you rev in neutral.
When it's installed, watch them both react to throttle inputs while driving. You'll be surprised at just how slow the stock one really is.
