smokes on start up only,poor sealing valve guides?: ching ching ching
no other repairs to vehicle

Is repair worth expense, i.e., what kind of additional mileage may I expect? Any thoughts appreciated.


PS: Are you suffering poor manual shifting? add Lucas to trans and it will disappear.

its a turbo and the engine is still has a running engine
is it usdm?
i had a hard time looking for a usdm 7m turbo in here, still havent found one that even close enuff to get

get the hg replaced with a metal one
get you machines head
retorqued

you might get another 100k out of that motor

The MHG us ynneccesary for stock. The stock toyota HG will hold up to a lot of boost, for a long time. The important part is keeping the motor cool, not overheated, proper torque on the bolts, And good gas. A stock toyota headgasket and arp studs torques to 110 ft lbs will hold up to 350 rwhp, And maybe more. Detonation is what kills the headgasket. And yes, Once the repairs are done, You wont need any work for a long time. Itll be good for a while.
