Home Fabrications

This question goes out to all who CAN reply.

What "Home fabricated" things can I all make for my 88 T? I am looking to up the power for cheap, until I can buy some things. Looking for a fabricated cold air intake...if its possible. I have access to a madril Bender, and welder, as well as having a very mechanical mind...so I can figure out most things suggested.

Post ANYTHING here, maybe this topic can turn into an idea swapping section as well!

make yourself a downpipe to replace the stock one and keep going to the end of the car with 4 inch pipe
this will loose the pre-cats in the downpipe and remove the cat from the exhaust

did sumbody say homemade??
you came to the right place
and u can ask weezl too with this

but here's one
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/999/intake3on9.jpg
homemade cold air intake
all plastic tubes with rubber connectors
and painted to look good
afm was moved and painted too
to match the rest of the intake
but since you got access to mandrel bender
making it out mof metal shouldnt be too hard for you

here's another one
http://img446.imageshack.us/img446/4...litter2jp6.jpg
homemade, windsplitter or front spoilers
like sum pple call it
the original was made out of wood
but a fiberglass version is on its way
also painted to match the car

here's another one thats easy to do
this one you actually got sum options
use paint stripper with the rims and end up with this
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6...rippingnh6.jpg

or you can do sum more with it
make it more yours
and come up with this
http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2...hcenterzl7.jpg

and this one is probly the best
homemade upgrade that you can do with your car
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5...iftknobod1.jpg
a short shifter upgrade
all you need is one of a momo type
shift knob
that has screws on the side
cuz you wont have the thread the when you do the upgrade
a little paint and the shift boot looks beautiful

nuthing like getting fresh cold air into the engine.....

edit- its made for dryer's and can be found at home depot but you can probably find something around your house to make this

Keep in mind...

I have a turbo, so I have an intercooler....the last one looks like it's on a N/A...correct me if I am wrong.

do you have access to a welding machine?
cuz you can make a custom intake pipe with the
blow-off valve on the pipe,
you can still do the airduct upgrade

i recommend doing that
with a filter with a funnel on the top
so that way
fresh air will be directed into the filter
like at the tip of my filter

do u have an auto or manual?
u can do the short-shifter upgrade

you can do the rims too
wasnt really that hard too
