supra 3 manifold gasket
 

hi, my exhaust manifold gasket has started blowing on no6 cylinder ,my local toyota dealers have told me it might need helicoiliing (a head off job apparently as anyone out there had this problem ,anyone got any info on prices ,parts and labour time required etc.thanks.

i don't know if you are N/A or turbo

if it's a turbo you might want to check out the downpipe .

the downpipe has an accordian looking section . it is common for this section to crack
this would fool you into thinking #6 is leaking .

check with your hand on a cold start put the hand just below the turbo heat shield and the very back of the shield .

the manifold bolts needing a heli-coil is common too so it could be both or one .

any cylinder to heli-coil would be better than #6 it's too tight back there

I checked to see where the gasses are escaping and its right on the end of the manifold by the bulkhead Id say about two inch of the gasket is lettin out gasses,its the turbo model ,I gather the turbo would have to come off to do the job ?thanks
