V.C. Gasket Success

Well, I did it. I changed my valve cover gaskets and put in new plugs. I found an auto store that actually had the grommets in stock. One question though. Those philip head bolts holding down the valve covers are rediculous. I had to saw a line across two of them and use a flat head screwdriver. I found some hex bolts the same length, with the same size thread, and with the same amount of thread (about halfway up). They are 10mm heads. With the grommets fitted onto them, they fit perfectly in place of the philips bolts, nice and snug. I have read on the posts that people replace the philips with allen bolts. Does anyone forsee me having problems? They fit great, are easy to work with, and look a lot better. Oh, and having taken all those pictures and marking my hoses was a life saver. Thank you to everyone who helped with some input, I really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Scruffboy

P.S. by the way, it turned right over on the first try and runs smooth as silk.

Re: Bolts

I didn't use allen type bolts, I used hex head (six sided regular bolts with a round bottom, anybody know what I mean?). They had the exact size and amount of thread as the philips and seem to work great. My question was, I see everyone else uses allen bolts, but these seemed to be perfect for the job and I was just wondering if anyone forsees a problem.

Thanks

Scruffboy
