1jz-gtte swaping
Swaping the 1jz-gtte, is it a stright drop in to the 91 non turbo or there is some custom work you have to do? And is it hard to find aftermarket parts for the 1jz-gtte motor?
|
First. It's 1JZ-GTE...not GTTE. It's a pretty much drop in affair, but you have to do some electrical work to get it to work right. It's pretty well documented, so it's easy enough to do. You need to make sure that you have EVERYTHING you need for the swap, just an engine is not enough. Aftermarket parts are getting easier to get for the 1jz specifically, but a lot of parts are interchangable w/ the 2jz.

Thank you Troy for clearing up that it is GTE!!
here's some info on the swap --> http://www.jza70.com/tech_pages.html Google is your friend. I came up with a ton of pages on it. But, we are always happy to help. |
Yep.
If your car is 89-92, you're lucky and the motor will fit in the stock motor mounts.
I have an 88 car, but I bought two brackets from BIC Performance, and I was able to drop my motor beautifully. (The other options are: 1. to get an 89-92 crossmember, and 2. to weld a motor mount... This last one was never an option for me, I don't like that). Then some working with the wiring, and you're done. =) |
