Hello supra forums, I just bought a 86.5 NA 5sp supra. It has a targa top, but the previous owner said the seals were shot and that if I removed the top it would just leak really bad. Were do I find new seals, how much do they cost, and can I install them myself. Also, were is the hydraulic clutch fluid reservoir located, the guy didn't give me a manual and Im having a little clutch problem. Thanks a lot for any help

i can't myself help you in finding new seals, i assume you are in the northern hemisphere so try your local toyota dealer as i hear they are not too bad on price, you could also just try using silicon to fill the gaps where it's coming in

www.supratsrm.com is a great place to start when wanting to know things about your car :) the clutch master cylinder should be located next to the brake booster on the firewall behind your exhaust manifold, it should have on the lid saying use clutch fluid only bla bla bla :)

Thanks for the info, sorry if I sound noobish, it's because I am. I'll be checking with a dealer about seals next week, and the car is now in the shop getting fixed.

Got an update on the clutch. My clutch is totally shot, hydraulic system replaced and I just got hosed. I am feeling very angry at the guy I bought the car from. I bought the car $2100, and am already in the car for another $1500 for the clutch and hydraulics and fluids. I only got to drive the car for about 2 1/2 hours before the clutch died. Any one else having one of those days?

update numero dos, I just need to vent frustration. Talked to the guy at the shop and he says my engine is pretty much shot. A the rear seal was blown and that dumped oil all over the tranny. It killed my fly wheel and clutch. He says someone "raced the sh!t out of that car" and that I can't believe it made it to 220000 miles. Well I am dejected and can't really afford to do too much else to the car. I'm hoping that I can find a good used motor for pretty cheap, but don't even know if that will help. I am passed the no hope just dump the car on some poor sucker, but I would feel too guilty doing that. I am already trying to find money to fix it, but feel I might just drive it for the summer and leave it in a ditch. I feel better for venting already.

that sux fully :(

but don't give up on the supra

i would say really since yours has quite high mileage to find another replacement engine with lower mileage just make sure you get it compression checked etc so you know it's a good engine

let us know how you get on with it
and vent again if required :P
