how do i make the hatchback keyless entry work?

i just bought a supra about a month ago, its an 87 mkIII. the keyless entry for the rear hatch wont work so i always have to pop it from inside by the driver seat, it would be nice to figure out why this isnt working, i tried looking around the hatch itself and the fuses but im not sure if their is a fuse for this.

any kind of help would be nice so plz leave comments.

keyless entry ?

i've never heard of this option on an 87

no keyless entry on an 87 huh.... i guess a previous owner must of put it on then......so maybe their isnt a keyless entry for the trunk. the previous owner also put in a radar detecor which is real handy. i have the master key for my car and i was wondering how i would go about getting a key that would pop the trunk.

has anybody ever tried taking out the rear speakers in a supra, i did this yesterday and after i got one out i decided it aint worth changing. took 4 hours and didnt get nuthin done.

Those speakers are a real task. I added an a speaker system with cabinet in the trunk area. I just spliced into the wires to the factory rear speakers. Those factory ones are to small, anyway.

I'm sure the aftermarket keyless does not open the trunk lid, as there is no electric solenoid. You might be able to remove the lock and take it to a lockshop and have them rekey it to match your ignition key. OR....they could just make you a key that fits the trunk lock, and you'd have 2 keys.

The key code is stamped on the passenger side door lock cylinder. Take out the cylinder and get the loak code and any Toyota dealership (and some locksmiths) can make the key for you.

what is a door lock cylinder?

Its the lock...where you insert the key. The key code(s) are stamped on the back of the passenger door lock. You'll have to take off the interior door panel to get at it. Or a locksmith can just make a key for you, prob charge $50 to $75 to do it.
