No, a new shorblock will probably still work ... although now you don't know if you'll also have to buy a 2jz-gte head too.

You could also go with a used jap-spec 2jz-gte longblock (usually available from an Aristo, not a Supra) and swap all of the necessary parts.

Honestly it sounds very suspicious. I've never heard of a 2jz-gte 'sieze' - you'd have to (for example) run it without any oil for a long time for something like that to happen. It's difficult to envision any normal operating condition that would cause it to completely sieze except maybe a broken connecting rod? FYI: For a connecting rod to break, they'd have had to be running a huge shot of nos, and about 1000hp. Given how unusual all of this is, do you think they're telling you it's siezed so you can't do a leakdown? Oh, and note you can still do a leakdown on a siezed engine by removing the cams.
