suprra_girl 01-09-2005 12:02 PM

have you checked the coil?
are any of your fuses blown?
can you smell gas?

a little bit more info is needed

snafu54 01-25-2005 05:03 AM

i have checked every thing. i get power to the coil but not out of it every one says its my coil. so i have a new coil on the way hope that is the prob.

suprra_girl 01-26-2005 09:22 AM

well hopefully you get your problem solved :)

good luck and if you have any more troubles just jump on and post ;)

snafu54 02-09-2005 09:58 PM

still no fire to the plugs do you think it might be my igniter

hangsupra 02-10-2005 01:17 AM

sometime the battery too...you might need to check on that...sometime its not enough juicy.... :D it happen too...it crank but wouldnt start it...hope that work...

snafu54 02-10-2005 08:16 PM

the battery is brand new

suprra_girl 02-11-2005 07:50 AM

did you replace the coil?

is your motor a 3.0 7mge?

when was the last time you had it running? what have you changed since then?

snafu54 02-11-2005 11:17 PM

i got a new coil and nothing. i baught the car for 300 the guy had it. it had a blown head gasket and he swaped engines same engine hooked up every thing right. it has the 3.0 non turbo cant think of any thing else. do you think it is the igniter.

300hpvision 02-12-2005 03:25 AM

try giving it a head start then start the engine hahahahaha! no im just kidding. maybe you should double check? it wont hurt. as suprra said check the coils.

suprra_girl 02-12-2005 06:52 AM

check the fusebox in your engine bay, particularly change AM2 AM1 and the main silver round one and also check your EFI Fuse.... if these all check out fine then go to a junkyard and get another ignitor and try that

let us know how you get on :)

snafu54 02-12-2005 11:43 PM

checked the fuses and they check out. the junk yard dosent have any igniters and they are way too exspencive for me to buy one 300-500$ im trying to get a job. is their any other toyotas i can get an igniter from that will work on my 87 supra non turbo.

snafu54 02-15-2005 11:37 PM

the igniter is good it almost started up i filled the tank i think the fule filter is bad.

suprra_girl 02-16-2005 09:31 AM

hey just a thought i had... have you checked your timing, make sure the belt is lined up with all the marks and also check the distributor... this can cause the car to crank but not fire

snafu54 02-22-2005 05:16 AM

but i should get spark from the coil even if the timing is off.

suprra_girl 02-22-2005 07:40 AM

please explain the process you took in checking whether your car has spark or not

i.e. pulled lead off etc etc

snafu54 02-24-2005 10:09 PM

i took the spark plug wire off the distributer cap that goes to the coil put the wire from the coil 1/4 inch away form the block and cranked it over and my friend said their was no spark. then i have tried taking out a spark plug put it 1/4 inch away from the block and still no spark.

suprra_girl 02-24-2005 11:17 PM

well it can be only one of two things

coil or ignitor or your am1 or am2 or other fuses are blown

check them over again and borrow someones coil & ignitor and try it out

good luck

snafu54 02-28-2005 11:12 PM

no one has an igniter to let me borrow! am1 or am2 where are they located?

suprra_girl 02-28-2005 11:18 PM

they are located in the engine bay fusebox beside the battery :)

snafu54 02-28-2005 11:23 PM

what do they do?

300hpvision 03-01-2005 04:49 AM

wait a second U DONT HAVE A JOB!!?? HOW DID U GET THE CAR? HOW OLD R U? WAS IT YOUR PARENTS? if it was your parents your lucky

snafu54 03-01-2005 05:18 AM

im going to school full time to keep my place as valedictorian. i have a full ride scholarship to university of arizona. its a early graduation gift for 300$

snafu54 03-03-2005 11:28 PM

i have an igniter on its way from NY for 120$ so hopefully that is the problem thanks for all the info.

abqsupra 03-05-2005 11:36 PM

i am having the same problem with my 86.5 non-turbo i get tons of crank no start, i replaced the ignition coil and still no start my problem seems to be a bad fuse job in my fuse box, the original owner apparently had a fuse just replaced with a jumper cable, and it burned out so now a whole heck of a lot a problems please let me know if anyone has another possibility

snafu54 03-08-2005 12:03 AM

did you replace the coil or the igniter? check all the fuses/relays replace the one wire with the right fuse.
