ok first sup yall im new here and i would like to ask a question .
right now i drive a pick up ( for work) but im selling it sometime soon and im tinking about buying a sport car.
my first choice is the supra mkIV but im still in school so i dont have tuns of money so that will have to wait but for a first sports car
i was tinking of getting or a supra mkII or mkIII or mabe a celica gt-4 (toyota all the way) now my question lol i want to know from ppl how have
the experiance with these cars to tell me if i can get a mint supra betwen 1986 to 1990 that will be reliable by reliable i mean not breaking down on me evry 2 days and so forth . i dont plan on making a project of it mabe just a new paint job or little things but no heavy engine swap or anything of the sort and im not going to beat the hell out of it so is it possible to get one that will last a good 4 yeas or so with out investing 2 mutch in it or if someone that has one as a daily driver can tell me whats its like on repairs (i live in canada so ill use it in winter also ) thx for all who anser my question

IMO if you want reliability, get a honda. as for a sports car, from what ive heard if you get a supra your going to blow your head gasket, so you gonna need to dish out 200- 300 for that idk about a mint 86 - 90, most of them have at least 70k miles, and the other ones have no front end

Is this a good price (Australian dollars)? I want a car that is a good daily driver (i.e reliable). What are they like on fuel? I generally don't give my cars a hard time as it tends to rape my wallet. I have a 1993 Mazda MX6 at the moment.
What do you reckon this Supra would do down the 1/4 mile? Is insurance expensive on these?
They seem to be around 1550kg or so, do they handle like tanks or are they quite nimble? What about in the wet? Other cars on my potential shopping list are Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, Nissan 180SX or 200SX etc etc. Doesn't look like the Supras have ABS standard either :(

the jza70's are usually very reliable... the ma70's... most likely if they are on their orig head will blow... but once you get a metal head gasket and arp's you shouldn't have a problem with it again.. (as long as the block & head are prepped for a mhg)
i would say for reliability... get a mk2 if you want a supra style car ;)

I was looking at the 1990 model, I like the shape (can't afford the newer curvy ones). The JZA70 appeals because it has all the widgets I like, such as digital dash, leather seats, cruise control, etc etc. Airbag and ABS would be nice though. Do they handle well, or does their weight hamper them?
What is the fuel usage like, with normal, and leadfoot driving methods?

from what i can (but this is from just one jza70) they are fairly good on gas.. i'm really jealous hehe
they are awesome cars... the supra handles very very well and weight i find actually helps with cornering etc.. that's what i find anyhow

winter... bad idea... think about it.. rear wheel drive car(supra) ice... hmmmm not a good combo but if you keep that truck in your hands then you have nothing to worry about... but the reliability issue.. dude its toyota of course it will last as long as it has like under 160,000 and you aren't going to rod it you will fine but be sure to get it checked for leaks and cracks and shit but besides that you should be able to find a good mkIII or mkII

yep ur right... he'd have to join all the other supra owners and put their supras to sleep for the winter hehe
