Which car?
4 Attachment(s)
I'm a novice and need help on deciding which Supra to buy. I live in Ireland and I am flying over to England on Sunday and coming home with a toy no matter what - I really love the shape of the older models.
My head is up my hole - there's good points to each and bad points aswell. Ideally I would like a Turbo Manual in white but we can't have everything, can we. 1989 TOYOTA SUPRA Manual in red (GBP1400, will except offer) Attachment 2523 6 MONTHS TAX - MOT 2010 112,000 MILES various receipts available * a lot of work done to this car 1990 TOYOTA SUPRA Turbo Automatic in white (will except GBP1200) Attachment 2524 NO TAX - MOT SEPTEMBER 2010 111,000 MILES 18 stamps - previous MOTs * GBP300 spend to get through MOT 1991 TOYOTA SUPRA Turbo Coupe Automatic in red (will except GBP1350) Attachment 2525 NO TAX - MOT JULY 2010 127,000 MILES no real paperwork * little known work done 1992 TOYOTA SUPRA Automatic in white (GBP990, may except offer) Attachment 2526 3 MONTHS TAX, 10 MONTHS MOT 129,598 MILES every receipt main dealer & MOTs since new * Cambelt, Head Gasket recently replaced |
the first one, even though it isn't turbo having the 5 speed is always a bonus. Not to mention I love coloured advan wheels. Also it would be much simpler to turbo an N/A to convert an automatic to standard as I now have that delemna and I'm looking at atleast 2500 to swap were as turboing it may be close to the same but it would be higher then a stock turbo.

get as close to this as possible
turbo
targa top leather 5 spd and not many sell a supra unless it has a problem .i.e overheating or a wife/life says it must go |
first Beals you must love doing things backwards. I have done both 7mge to 7mtge swaps and auto to manuel swaps. It is much easier to swap a tranny than it is an engine. Plus if your planning on turbocharging a 7mge your crazy. I'm not sure if you understand what you really have to do to make that work. In a nut shell you are trying to build a 7mgte out or a 7mge.
Now for the supra you should buy the car you want Dont just settle for what you find right of the bat. I did that for my first supra and ended up with an 1986.5 N/A 5spd. Its taken me about 12 to 15 Grand to get that car where I want it and i love it now. Second try to stay away from one with a Targa Top, they are heavier and have a ton of body roll. I have an 88 Targa Turbo that is a great sunday driver, but you can really feel that thing move side to side when you push it into corners. If the car you are looking at has had modifications or claims to have modifications DEMAND to see all work receipts and build sheets. If they tell you they dont have them either there cousins friend did the work. Or there full of shit. No one who puts thousands of dollars into a car should keep the receipts. Oh ya dont buy any car with out paperwork or a salvage title. |
How about this one Ebay if its not too late.

Thanks for link.
It looks like the don't make the Advan's in 2 colours per wheel anymore like this and they never supplied them in white inner and black outer: Attachment 2536 The version 2 are all one colour on spoke and inner surface surround. I could buy a used set and get them powdercoated (Is powder coating expensive?) I also like these RAVS - what do u's think white or black on white car: Attachment 2537 Attachment 2538 These are much cheaper at approx. ?600 than Advan's at approximate ?2000 |
