ok my cousin bought a 98 supra in imaculent (spelling) condition. it has about 133k miles on it. just wondering if he drops a new engine in it would the mileage reset?
|
No, because the how many miles a car has been driven affects everything about a car....now say you were to sell it you could say the car has 250,000 miles on it but engine has only 80,000 miles on it........
|
ooh ok so the reading will say how many miles the car has been driven but the engine only has a percentage of that since its new
|
well if you drop in a new motor with for example 40k miles on it..the odometer will still say 133k so basically the motor will have 40k but hte chassis will have 133k, you should save the receipts and keep track of how much mileage the new motor gains once its dropped in...so therefore when you decide to finally sell it...then there will be no problems

i think someone is talking about the computer/digital mileage odometer .

oh...im an idiot

well... my digital dash doesn't have a digital speedo readout.. it's still analogue roll over thing
regardless i think if it was that fancy the manufacturer would have to reset it but as mentioned above.... keep receipts :) |
