In one drag/conversion magazine called ZOOM I read that you could fit the 1GZ-FE engine (stats below) in a Supra. Here's the stats:

1GZ-FE
Type: 4996cc EFI DOHC 48-valve V12
Power: 206kW@5200rpm
Torque: 481Nm@4000rpm
Gearboxes: floor or column-shift RWD 4sp auto
Bore: 81mm
Stroke: 80.8mm
Comp: 10.5:1

Can it be done? And if it can, would it be a benefit or loss in Grade A Toyota muscle??? :)

P.S. The reason I am asking is that I'm not great with stats & I can't get a piccy of this engine (it's supposed to be rare).

cant see why not since a v12 theoretically is around the same length as the strait 6 they came with factory... its only wider, but as long as no turbos are involved, i cant see that that would cause a problem either, considering if the width of a 1UZ-FE can fit...

be pretty cool to see it done, if someone can actually find one of these engines lol

1gz-fe came out in the very high end century VIP cars. this idea was kicked around on the sconz list at the beginning of the year. toy_leeka, the pistons may not need to sit beside each other, so that side of things can make the engine shorter, but the rods still need to bolt to the crank side by side, so will be considerably longer than a straight six, just not as long as a straight 12. like the 1uz, it will be wide, so will be difficult to fit anything off the sides of it. be a bit nasty though, considering all the pipe work for 6 exhaust pipes down each side. the amount of work needed to get the engine to be a performance engine is huge, lots of head work, new cams, valves, etc, new ecu to control the different air flow characteristics. the engine is designed to be a dead smooth runner, quiet, plenty of torque. not a performance engine, can be made into one, but would take a lot.

just throw more boost at your current engine and go for a hoon B)

Would a 1UZ be a lot easier to fit & perform??? ;)

this sounds like an awesome project mate... good luck with it :D

i do think a 1uz might be easier but uniqueness is all good ;)

I want SPEED, so what would be better a (possibly supercharged ;) ) 1UZ VVT-i or a 1GZ????? :o
