Starting up your car
I had a question about warming up your car. I have a 1992 supra non turbo and I was just wondering if anybody else warms up their cars too? I usually wait till the thermo hits the line, but that takes my car about 10-15 min, my question is should I keep continuing warmin up for 10-15 min? Or can I just warm it up for 5 min and I'm ready to go??

I get in... crank up... put in gear and go... If it wont go... then theres a problem..
I never warm my car up... I just crank and let idle about 1 minut if that while i put belt on..then im off... Now ofcourse... letting car warm up and come to temp before putting under strain is alot better for it...And would be the RIGHT thing to do.. so if its not a hassle to ya.. keep doing it... ALL REAL RACE CARS>.. and i mean real race cars.. warm there engines&trans & rearend first.. the tolorance are so close in the F1 engines that you cant even turn them over without warming the oil up first... dead serious the motors are acually damn near locked solid... \ SO answer to your question... Yes keep warming it up.. :} I live in Florida to... so the engine is all ready at 90+ lol |
I agree with Supra Greg. I let it idle long enough to buckle the seatbelt, and go. I just drive it tenderly until it warms up fully. I can usually cover 3-4 miles before that happens on cold mornings.
