trouble with security system

i own a 1987 automatic toyota supra that has problems with its security system. In the past i've had issues with the alarm but this time it has to do with not being able to start the car. I know for a fact it isn't the battery because all the lights and electronics are working fine, however when i go to start the vehicle it makes a clicking noise and nothing happens. This seems to happen randomly as well, some days i have no problems at all and other days i'll drive somewhere, get back into my vehicle and this problem will again arise for no apparent reason. In the past this has happened before and been fixed by trying various different methods of locking, unlocking etc to get the car back to normal however i haven't figured out a very reliable method. Im curious to know if anyone else has experienced similar problems with supra security systems and how they have gone about bypassing it and getting running again. Maybe in the future i could just get it turned off so that i am only able to lock/unlock and thats it? input is appreciated.

I have actually delt with this same issue in my 87. Very frustrating. My friend ended up disarming it. I'm not sure how but what I did to temporarily fix it was re-lock the doors and shut them. wait a minute for the security system to set up and unlock the Passenger side door. I don't know if you've tried that but if not, give it a shot. It's weird some VW's work the same way

Thats all I do to stop the alarm system just lock and unlock the doors. The clicking might be the starter too a, bad gummed up wire that just needs to be cleaned. Just from the clicking sound you said. I have not had this problem with my car yet I hope not.

Faulty alrm system

I have an 86 with the same problem, car starts when it wants to. Most of the time ,I unlock the rear hatch with the key and the car will crank. I installed a toggle switch to engage the starter , when this crap happens. The circuit opening relay has six pins. The bottom row from left to right, you can splice into these and put a single position toggle switch. These are terminals 2#3. The white wire with black stripe, and black wire with red stripe are what you are looking for. They are located behind the drivers side kick panel. This is a tempory solution untill i can find out how to disable this bullshit alarm. Good luck. PS: The key has to be in the on position when you try this. When engine starts flip off the toggle switch. Never be stranded again.

The easiest route is to just disable the alarm system by bypassing one of the switches on the back of one of the lock cylinders or remove a sensor to one of the door sensors or the hood or trunk alarm sensor. The second would be to leave the system functional and replace the worn out sensor on the back of the lock cylinders. The third would be to remove the system and the fourth would be to add a modern security system with OEM alarm integration functionality.
