Sorry if this is one of the dumbest post you guys ever read but I just want to know because I'm curious.

First of all, I know that ain't no way in hell can a MKiii beat a freakin 2005 Corvette. But say if the MKiii has a turbo, has been modify, has at least 500 HP and 500 lb of torque. Now will it be able to keep up with a Corvette or will it still get burned?

I've chase after a 2004 Corvette before (I know, I'm crazy to mess with them Super cars) and shoot, in like a sec he was going 100 MPH. When I caught up to him, he switch lane and got behind my rare end, probably just to see what kind of car was messing with him or probably he just wanna mess around with me too.

ddmcse 07-01-2005 12:02 PM

corevette ? can't you find something faster ?

most corvette's have low horse power
1989 Chevrolet Corvette Wheelbase: 96.2 inches Length: 176.5 inches Engine: 5.7 liter, 245 h.p. V-8 Transmission: 6-speed manual; 4-speed automatic

i don't know what year they started given em more HP . but over all vette's are not a challenge

Biku 07-01-2005 01:08 PM

If the supra has 500 horsepower, I'd lean towards the supra. The new corvette is boasting the new LS2 and putting 400 horsepower to the ground naturally aspirated. It might be too much for a stock supra, but a modified supra might be able to beat it.

However, if the 500 horsepower supra were going up against the new z06, I'd lean towards the z06 because of the weight and 505 horsepower.

KingDiamond 07-01-2005 07:50 PM

A supra could definately take a corvette, but like said earlier you would definately need to do some modifications, and bump up the horse power.

87supersupra 07-02-2005 12:33 AM

I've seen what my supra can do, and i haven't done that much really.......i definately believe a modified supra could smoke the vettes!

KingDiamond 07-02-2005 04:25 AM

Does anyone know the weight of the vette?

ddmcse 07-02-2005 09:52 AM

vet drivers are candy asses you won't find many that want to race

Biku 07-02-2005 11:54 AM

I think the weight of a newer corevette is 3100-3300 depending on options.

monkihead 07-02-2005 07:45 PM

if the mk3 is modded yes, it can take a NEW 05 vette. so far as older ones go, easily. my tibby would take out 80s vettes(some 90s).

Aboyandhiscar 07-03-2005 01:20 AM

A highly modified Supra might could beat a '05 Corvette in a straight line (Not by much), but the Vette would be a better car in almost every other way. As far as the '06 Vette Z06 is concerned, a Supra couldn't touch it. And by the way, Corvette drivers are not candy a**es, most of them are probably car freaks just like we are. The Corvette is an extremely awesome car. I wouldn't feel to bad about getting smoked by the new Z06, it would smoke a Ferrari F430!!

i have to agree on a mild modified 87-92 supra would have trouble with an 06' z06 vette. there are a few years of intelligence to seperate them. but then, if you could afford one, would you still buy one?? ive seen parish's silverado out run a z06 on nos. even then, he was out run by a mk4 supra.

KingDiamond 07-04-2005 07:59 PM

And i would have to disagree with the comment the vette is better in every other way, i'm sure the supra can handle just as good if not better through turns , considering we had one of the best companies build our suspension system (LOTUS). Plus The supra is cheaper, and my opinion, because its prejudice and the supra is my favorite, there is nothing better then a supra to me. There are a lot of nice cars out there, but nothing that when i look at it makes my pants bulge. :P

Lotus built it, with 80s tech. You could spend 10K in suspension and a stock z06 will still take the corners with you, and in a straight line a brand new Z06 bone stock would smoke 95% of MK3 Supras... I could put a BBC in a civic and smoke a z06. The point you overlook is that the vette is bone stock, if his vette is blown, you wouldnt touch it, this goes for ddmcse's 300rwhp as well. Sorry guys, I love the MK3 Supra, but I'm not about to run my mouth about how easy vettes are, that just sounds stupid.

Chevy says the 2006 Z06 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in well under 4 seconds, run the quarter-mile in the mid-11-second range and top out at 190 mph.

Can your Supra do that?

Just a reminder, I do love Supras :)

KingDiamond 07-05-2005 12:12 PM

I don't feel i have to spend 10k on suspension, my stock stuff is just fine, handles extremely well.

kwnate 07-06-2005 03:00 AM

My point was, you will have to spend lots of money to get the same handling as a STOCK Z06. Does anyone here have a MK3 that can hang with a new Z06? Most likely not... Basically KingDiamond, on a roadcourse you would get smoked by any C5 or C6 vette.

They don't waste their time... Would you race a Geo Storm?

ddmcse 07-06-2005 10:35 AM

i'll race with anyone that wants to .
makes my heart pound and i love the rush

KingDiamond 07-06-2005 02:24 PM

Yeah i'll race anyone, don't care what there driving, as long as its all for fun.

midwestmk2 07-06-2005 05:13 PM

A new vette cost's what $40,000...Give me that much money to put in my MK2 or your MK3 and that vette can kiss our ass..!!Wether hes blown or not!

intense 7MGTE 07-06-2005 10:56 PM

Most MKIIIs will get owned buy a corvett form like 95-00+. You would have to have some serriuos mods dont to keep up. A MKIII stock put down around 170 to 190 if your motor is in good shape. A corvett put down almost 300. You do the math.

ddmcse 07-07-2005 12:05 AM

i put down 300 bring on the vette . and i haven't got to the serious mods yet

and btw when someone has a 20 yr car taking risks are not nearly as risky compared to someone with a brand new car .
ergo: candy asses

Supra91_ishot 07-07-2005 02:38 AM

Man, for me I wouldn't care what kind of car it is. No matter who it is either. If you drive up to me, and you wanna race me let's go.

I've race a 2003 Mustang, suped up Camero LS, Lancer, Subaru WRX, Subaru SI(?), Trucks, Integra, some chevy cadillac (1980's), a gay van, Toyota Celica (1990's), Toyota Scion, Honda (2004?) and I've chased after two freaking Corvettes. One 2004 and one ZO6. Hell yeah you heard that from me. No they are fast and powerful, but hey at least I can still see their tail lights, zahahaha.

Yeah, most of those cars are no peice of sh*ts. I've beaten all of them except the Mustang, Camero, head-to-head with Subaru SI and no contest with Subaru WRX, and I was having fun chasing the Vettes :)

Other than that, all the other cars, I either smoked them or made them really pissed off at me when I burned their a$$.

So yeah, I'll race any kind of freaking car even if it's a Viper or a Lambrogini. And of course my MKIII is all stock. I'm even having a little engine problem, but hey it can still compete. No doubt! When I get the $$$$$, watch me burn a Mustang and Camero. REVENGE IS SWEET! :)

SuperSupra86 07-07-2005 09:17 PM

In response to an earlier post....The MSRP for 06 Corvette Z06 is 65,800$ Now take my MKIII that i bought for 2700$ all stock and if i put 62k in performance upgrades it would take down flippin Lamborghinis........I mean there are a few year between the technologies, but if you have the cash for this you make a STOCK Z06 look like a fricken Buick LeSabre(My old Car) ....Me personally am not sure i could find 62k in upgrades....

If it came down to a blown Supra MKIII Vs a Blown 06 Corvette Z06.... both having the same budget i would put my money on the Vette no matter how much i like Supras...The Vette has a bit of a head start...

Here in Madison I've seen some crazy races...Especially the Blown Viper (00?) taking down 05 Vette.....I was stuck behind the Viper...its exhaust shook my Buick..... :P
