Help..Diff Cont Indicator On (off) / No Speedo

Yesterday I was driving and quickly hit the gas for a split second, all of a sudden my Diff Cont. light came on (saying it was off). I push the button but nothing changes, just shows that it's off. At the same time I noticed my speedo is no longer working.

I have searched quite a few websites last night (about 5 hours). I did come across a couple threads about finding the codes, etc. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem especially the Diff Light.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

What year is your Supra? ...and is it turbo or n/a?

1995 Turbo. I got the speedo working just by tapping the window but the Diff light is still on.

Is your Supra equipped with a differential cooler? If so, it's very likely the problem is associated with that subsystem. It's possible, for example, that there is a problem with the electrical connections to the motor that pumps your diff fluid through to the cooler. Also, when was the last time that you changed your diff fluid ...and how many miles on your Supra?

It has roughly 65k on it and I have no idea when the last time it was changed. I purchased the car not too long ago but the dealership that I bought it from has no idea. Is there a diagram anywhere that can show me a location of the differential cooler? I'm probably in the next week or so I'll probably take it to Toyota for all the oil changes etc. I just don't want to walk in there blind and have them run me for a loop. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I just need to know if this is totally out of my league. I will check for any electrical connections only if I know where I'm looking. I appreciate all the help that your giving me.

Unfortunately, the diff cooler was never offered here in the US. As a result, my TSRM (Toyota Supra Repair Manual) does not have any additional information on this feature. If you can read Japanese, I would strongly suspect that, since you're located in Japan, getting a Japanese TSRM for your '95 TT from any Toyota dealership over there should be no problem. You probably only need Volume#2 (Chassis). This is probably the best source of information for not only the location of diff cooler components, but also a set of troubleshooting steps to diagnose problems with this subsystem.

Thanks for the info! My wife reads Japanese so I can start from there. My (!) has been also before the Diff light came on so I know there are some other stuff going on (not major) but would still like to find out. If I tak some pics of the engine showing the vacuum hoses, would you be able to tell me or help me see what exactly they have done to the hoses (rerouted, etc.)?

I'd be happy to take a look at any pictures that you post. Other than any left-hand-drive vs. right-hand-drive differences, I should be able to help determine if anything has been modified.

In addition, here's a tech article that may help with your /!\ light:

Thanks, I found those codes before when I was searching these different websites but haven't been able to get a chance to actually perform it yet. I didn't see the diagnostic cap under the hood but found one under the dash (drivers side). Hopefully the pics will help out. I'll take some today.
