I am looking to buy a Mk4 Supra. Has to be manual and turbo.
But there aren't many turboed manual around.
If it's turbo , it's Auto
if it's manual, it's N/T

So what I'd like to do is buy a Auto TT and convert it to manual(5spd or 6spd which one?)
Is it easy to do that? and what parts do I need to get it done?

Why is it so hard to find a 2jzgtte with 6spd tranny?
they are all auto.
if there is a 2jzgtte engine with 6spd tranny for sale, it would be alot easier.
All I have to do is, get a high mileage auto TT and change the engine.

and also is it better to get the VVT-i engine over the regular one?

well i'm not too sure on the specifics of a manual swap on the mk4 but i would assume its similar to the mk3
rip out the auto.. bolt up either the 5sp (from a non turbo mk4) or the 5spd from a mk3 turbo (r154) or 6sp from the turbo mk4...
to make things easier on yourself find a mk4 with all manual parts in it

flywheel
driveshaft
clutch (or buy new)
diff
clutch master & slave cylinders
pedal box

that way your gearing is most likely going to be correct but you should really go and get it checked to make sure it's not out
you will also need to find out if your reverse lights are integrated into the neutral start switch of the auto... if it is you will need to rewire it or you won't have reverse lights (coz ur switch isn't there anymore)

good luck with it :)

I've got a TT auto supra and am starting my conversion next month. What country are you in? In NZ the 6speed gear boxes are incredibly rear, be easier to bring it in from Japan. But in saying that the 5speed gear boxes can hold up to about 500-600hp (dont quote be on that tho) and are about $1700 cheaper so....for me Im going 5-speed. supragirl is correct....it does pretty much just bolt on and dont forget to get your pedals! :)
