A/C question - Suspension Q

I have a 95 N/A Supra 5 speed. If you take out the A/C do you get a noticable hp gain?

Also, I need to replace my struts and figured I would get a new suspension. What are some good brands to look at?

Thanks

Although I'm less familiar with na's (perhaps other member(s) can post here as well), I'd have to guess that you wouldn't gain much HP from removing the A/C versus simply turning it off. Most folks I know that completely remove the a/c do so for weight savings, and possibly to increase airflow to the radiator.

The Mkiv Supra doesn't have struts, it has a double-wishbone suspension with coilover shocks. A couple of good replacements for the oem shocks are Koni and KYB (AGX). If you want to go to a full coilover system, Teins are very popular.

Yea I think I might go with Tein for my suspension. However with the A/C I heard that it uses a belt in the engine and when you take it out you remove that belt which would give you extra horsepower. Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks in advance

The same belt drives the a/c, power steering, fan+water pump, and alternator. If you remove the a/c compressor, you'd still need a belt (just a shorter one).

Also, when I took it in to have it looked at the guys said that the "struts" were leaking hydraulic fluid and wont pass inspection. If the car doesnt have struts what were they talking about?

Probably the shocks...
