Did toyota produce a single turbo MKIV supra? Or was it just non-turbo and twin turbo?

i think a huge ass single turbo one from the factory would have been cool but no they only did non turbo and twin turbo :)

honestly though who cares about single turbo when you can get twin turbos?

Actually, the single turbo conversion Supra's may be able to pull more HP, simply because it's hard to fit two huge ass turbos into that space.

there are twin turbo upgrades...i know hks and greddy have them, single turbo gets more power....though upgrading to dual turbos also gets u a good amount of power...it just depends on how u want the car to engage the boost

Well with Toyota they sent the TT into a perfectly smooth sequential boost.....A single larger turbo tends to get more Torque in low ranges where as the TT you have higher range Torque and HP due to Turbo Lag, etc....I've seen some single Turbo MKIV people have modded and they are incredible beasts off the line, but generally the TT set up tops out at a higher Max Speed...Just my two cents on the set ups i've seen

Actually you have it backwards, A single will give you less low end power and more grunt at the top end. The stock twins will spool quicker so you get tourque lower in the rpm range.

And single turbo upgrades will make more power, more efficiently than the stock twins will.

All of that depends a LOT on the turbo itself and it's dimensions. You tune a turbo to when you want the power to kick in. The main reason people go to a single turbo it seems is quite simple....cost. One turbo is far cheaper than 2, going fast on the cheap is usually what people are after.

As it was said, the twins will spool faster, getting the power faster. Also, it's a lot smoother, and has a flatter power band with far less peaking than a single turbo. That can be tuned a lot by the sizing of the turbo components, most good places will ask the simple questions, when do you want it to kick in, how much total boost, how will it be driven, ect.

Sidenote: ball bearing turbos give no power gain, they just spool faster leading to better 1/4 mile times because the boost comes in faster.
