Which supra is better..

im tryin to choose between these 2supra's. I want the cr thats gonna lat me longer w/o problms and which ever one will hold better re-sale value if ie ver sell it. Cars are in teh US but im in canada

CAR 1

93 supra, automatic, non turbo, 97,000 miles, reconstructed title (no fram damage), 2 owners, characol in colour, paint is great, interior shows wear, hole in front bumper but car comes with do-luck stlye bumper, 19" wheels...got him down to 13,200 US

CAR 2

93 supra, automatic, twin-turbo, 170,000 miles (100,000 on tranny and engine), clean title, 1 owner, characol in colour, great condition (havnt seen 2 many pictures though), completely stock.asking 17,500 ill prolly offer 16,000

what you guys think these cars are worth, and which ones a better investment

is car 2 in texas and did u see it off autotrader?

SupraMan1784 12-15-2005 03:07 PM

id go turbo with car 2...though i would think car 1 would get u better resale since it has lower miles

Car#2, assuming it's had proper & regular maintenance, compression #s are good, boosts well, drives smoothly, etc.

This is a no brainer. The turbo car willalways be more expensive and hold its value. The flipside to that car 2 will have more of a pronality of something malfunctioning becasue of the turbo kit. So its a hit and miss issue.

no its not off autotrader, plus i will be flying down their and checking it out beore any kind of payment, seller has agreed (owns his own dealership)

Well car 1 is outta the question, just because ir ather have sumthin thats already turbod, and i dont want to get sumthin with a salvage title, because you never know.

With car 2, before i buy it im going to take it to a toyota dealership and get it inspected, now with their 100 point inspections, do they check everything, compression tests, leak down test, whether the body is straight, mathcin vin# etc. Or is it more of a visialy look at say brakes, exhaust systeme etc?

I do plan on doing a signle turbo upgrade etc, with the automaic tranny will i loose a lot of power, like is it worth getting a auto supra, half the people say its a waste the other say go for it. I just wanna make sure that if i get teh auto i can still make it fast, and not have tuners saying you can go past 15psi cause the tranny will break etc

They do a full blown inspection of everything. Basically they inspect what you want them to inspect. If you want them to do a 50pont inspection then they charge you for that if you want them to do a 100point they charge you for that.

Well like everyhting else there are pros and cons. The pros are city driving(especially if there are steep hills and such and traffic)will be a breeze with an automatic; a manual tranny will be a pain in the booty. Another good thing with an auto is that shifting is faster; the con to that is that in a manual you can shift when you want which means more rpm length. A con to a auto tranny is that when one goes bad you have to do a rebuild or tranny swap which is at least 1500bucks. IN a manual all you have to change is the clutch set or maybe the flywheel which all together depending on what brand and stuff can range from 500-1000. Also automatic trannys are more prone to have problems than a manual tranny. So again its all perception and what you want.

i hear ya, how are teh supr auto trannys? heard they built them pretty strong, oh ya the tranny has 20k on it, not 100,00.

well i was gonna buy a stall converter, and also bypass the rev limiter.

Stupid noob question, but when "bypassing" the rpm governor, it allows me to rev higher, but whats the point since the tranny will shift by itself way before the redline???????

Bottom line on the car.....Does 16k flat US seem like a really good deal on a 93 TT thats stock/clean/clear...170miles on body..20miles on tranny and 80 miels on engine? and lets say the car is in perfect runnign condition

i see the car as my dream car, but at the same time an investment

Well they actually are very strong but the manuals are even stronger.

No its not a noob question its a very good question. Now I am assuming you are talking about a auto tranny. Now in an auto tranny this will not work. This will only work on a manual.

O yeah if it is a good runing car Id jump on that like flies on sh!t. lol

Well if I was you I wouldnt sell that car but if you had to its a real investment that when fixed up great will turn over a great profit.

suprafann 12-17-2005 07:09 AM

yea if i do ever sell it, it owuld be for a reason beyong my control hehe

well if the auto does bug me i guess in the future when i have soem coin laying around ic an do a swap to manual, still seems cheaper than to turbo a N/A fromt eh price of NA/T kits go for
