Default front clip or stand alone?

Hey guys, I have a 93 supra n/a and looking to do a jdm swap. It's an automatic so looking for the same set up. My question is will there be any benefit to purchase a jdm rhd supra front clip as opposed to buying an aristo 2jz gte set up?

You'll need the 2jz-gte itself (of course), the ecu and primary wiring harness from a LHD (US) Mkiv TT. You'll also need an ignitor, and a resistor pack.

If you source the 2jz-gte from an Aristo, you'll need to get the oil pans for an Mkiv 2jz-gte.

The only things you'd get from a whole RZ front clip vs. a 2jz-gte from an aristo would be the correct oil pan, an ignitor, and a resistor pack. You'd still be missing the correct ECU (US-spec), and the primary wiring harness...although in theory you may be able to use a JDM ecu with a US-spec harness, and JDM speed density (no MAF). I'm not sure if a JDM 2jz-gte supra ECU would mate up to a US-spec harness...some re-pinning may be required *shrug*.

You may also have a driveshaft issue depending on which transmission/diff combo you plan to run.

Thanks for the response. I've been reading a decent bit about the swap but I'm still cloudy on the drive shaft fitment. If I purchase an aristo motor will it not be a direct fit to my car so long as both are automatics?

Most likely your current drive shaft won't fit. I believe that the length of the TT auto transmission is different from the length of the N/A auto transmission.

In addition, running the oem n/a diff with a 2jz-gte isn't recommended ... especially if you're planning on running bigger turbo(s) on the 2jz-gte.

I've written this at least a hundred times before: If you wanted a TT, you should have purchased one. Putting a 2jz-gte into an n/a jza80 chassis doesn't get you an Mkiv Supra Turbo. You'll be lacking brakes, suspension, driveline, etc., etc., etc.... and upgrading all of these items is more expensive than buying an Mkiv TT in the first place.
