A salvage title would most definitely affect the car: flood damage could have caused a crazy mess with the electical system, and a salvage title due to an accident would likely mean a bent frame!
To me, low mileage Mkiv Supra Turbos are not "over priced". They are sold according to market pricing, for a justifiably rare and highly prized commodity. No art collector would consider the Mona Lisa "overpriced". Admittedly, the Mkiv Supra Turbo isn't quite that rare, but it ain't no mustang or camaro. In fact there are several models of porsche and ferrari that are more common than the Mkiv Supra Turbo.
Finding a 75k bone-stock Mkiv Supra Turbo with no salvage title would still, to me, be a pretty rare find indeed. I'd guess you wouldn't find one like this for less than $25K...likely more. To me, that'd be a fair price. To you, perhaps this is "overpriced". Don't forget this is a $50K+ GT Sportscar ($75K+ in 2010 dollars)...so to me, $25K would be a steal.
From what I understand, you need that $25K in cash in a briefcase, and you need to be continuously scanning for-sale advertisements. If you fly to the owner's location the same day the ad comes out, and you're the first there with cash, and the car checks out, that's the best way to get one. If you're not ready to go to those lengths, you may not find what you're looking for. I'm only passing along info I've heard from friends of mine that have bought used Mkiv Supra Turbos. I bought mine new from 'yota so I've never bought one used myself. :dunno: |
