I've read some stuff about the NA and TT Supras and it seems that the TT version is a lot better suited for aftermarket modification. I'm looking to buy one next year and I would like to know what some of you think. I would probably like to make somewhere around 500 whp and some sites have suggested that the NA's setup may not be sufficient for this kind of power. Right now I'm thinking that the TT is better because it was made to handle the extra power and the NA would need more mods, in order to get the hosepower up and still keep it reliable.

just a side note, the 2jz-ge makes almost the same power as a 7m-gte :D

I'm assuming that the 7m-gte is older and single turbo. I've looked up some things and I think that the 97 Supra is probably what I want. I think that with a set of new turbos, complete exhaust, and other small upgrades the car should be able to put up a good number. Not that it doesn't do that already.

Supra TT are way better for aftermarket mods. 500hp is very achievable with a twin turbo. The BPU setup offered by suprastore.com is good for 400+rwhp@18psi. BPU means that you have a boost controller, catback exhaust, downpipe, and a boost cut controller. With the addition of cams and cam gears you could be looking at close to 450rwhp. A stage1 turbo upgrade can get you well into the 500s for not alot of money. Even with 500+rwhp the car would still be extremely reliable and streetable. If you are going to up the hp I recommend getting a 6speed so that you dont have to build up the auto tranny, the 6speeds are more exspensive, but soo much more fun :D

the tt has better internals...u could crank up the boost waaay past stock without changing them...saving you some money and time...greatest engine ever produced haha

Yeah, the turbos are able to produce enough PSI to get some good numbers, just upping the boost on them is enough to add a lot of power, but allowing the engine to breath better allows the turbos to spool up faster. To get the amount of power out of the N/A....well, there is only one way to increase power, burn more fuel, which means more air. Nitrous, forced induction (turbo, supercharger), or extra displacement are the only ways, and I don't think you're going to be able to bore out the engine large enough to get that much power :D

Save the trouble, get the turbo.
