Sorry to say I don't know for sure - I've never seen it on a US-spec MKIV. A couple of guesses would be the active aero spoiler or the headlight wipers, since these are euro-specific features.

Hi guys, i have mkIV auto for coupl of weeks and cant find out what does this button near gear knob.

but mine is an import from Japan, come on people tell me something:dance:
you must have same button on auto gearboxes

Nope, US-spec Mkiv TT autos do not have that same button.

Does it lock the torque converter? Or does it simply lock the transmission in 4th (overdrive)?

Hi pwpanas

I have used this sort of button while installing head units on 3 JDM cars with automatic transmissions (not Supra).

When the auto lever is in 'park' and the car is not running, the auto lever should be locked in place.

In this situation, the Shift Lock Release button allows you to shift the auto lever out of its locked position.
