Differances between Supras

i am new to the whole Supra info. So was confused with MKIV here and http://us.st1.yimg.com/store1.yimg.c.../trans_1x1.gifhttp://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/supra_1897_0
1JZGTE, 2JZGTE, and some other names. So i was simply wondering what are the different types of supras for 1993-1998? Also what were the different engines for these? I might purchase a 1997 Supra TT so what engine would that have? Also any other helpful hints to distinguish the different supra would be very helpful and appretiated.

Thanks,

DRE

All '93-'98 Mkiv Turbo Supras came with the same engine (2jz-gte). The biggest difference is ODBI emissions for '93-'95 and ODBII emissions for '96-'98. The amount of mileage an Mkiv Supra has, and how well it was maintained, are more important (imho) than the model year.

An SZ-R is a "supra MKIV" BUT not all "supra MKIV"s are SZ-Rs. The SZ-R is only non-turbo ("n/a"=normally aspirated), with a manual transmission. In other words, there are automatic MKIVs and turbo MKIVs that are not SZ-Rs...

The term "MKIV" (Mark-'IV'=Four) refers to all Supras (turbo or non-turbo, auto, 5spd, or 6spd) with the 4th generation body style, which is Toyota chassis code "jza80".

Edit: Nope; although they're both A340Es, there are significant internal differences between those two, as well as differences between the a340e in the mkiv n/a's auto vs. the mkiv tt's auto. Please see info provided at these links:
