Partially Attach Flywheel
Is it safe to attach the TC to the flywheel by only 5 of the six bolts for a 15 minute test to see if the engine is working?
One of the holes on the flywheel was bent by a screwdriver holding the wheel in place. In a week I'll have a new flywheel but the engine must be tested in the next couple of days. Thanks for the info. |
Ehhh... i dont think 5/6 bolts is safe, it wouldnt have the same pressure all around, which would make it uneven and possibly dangerous, IMO.
best to get a 3rd opinion here. |
I'd agree... The 6 bolts would keep the torque converter flush against the flywheel. With only 5 of them, you run the risk of something flexing, and probably causing some damage.

Went and grabbed one off of ebay -- decided the risk probably wasn't worth it.

i dont see what the big deal is if your just going to start it and let it idle... flex plate should not be moving that much at lower rpm
