2jz swap

i have a 91 supra and im looking to swap the 7mgte for a 2jzgtte. can anyone give me some specifics on what all has to be done for this swap to work? i have found an engine, tranny, and ecu for fairly cheap and would like to get this project on the road.

Not to name drop or anything but there is a ton of people that have done them on supramania. If you go there and search for the 2JZ swap there has been a ton of posts about it. Also check here there are few people that have a 2JZ just a lot more work than doing a 1JZ swap and costs more. Sad most people dont realize that a 1JZ is the 2JZ little brother and has the same potential. Also the cost difference is a whole lot better like you pay 3 to 4 thousand for a 2JZ and like 1k to 2k for a 1JZ.

price difference

the engine, tranny, and ecu i have found was only $2900, but ill look into it. i dont really know shit about performance, i just know i like to haul ass.

I payed like 1900 for the whole clip with my 1JZ and the 1JZ was actually made for the mark 3 so it is much easier to put in. The thing is with what you are looking at is just the motor ecu and wireing. there is gonna be like a grand more of stuff that you will need to get and it going to be hard to find. Easier to get a clip and then you get all the parts you need to get it all done. If you lived close to me I would take you for a ride in my car and you would see hauling butt. Plus the 1JZ has a lot of interchageable parts with the 2JZ so parts arent that hard to come by. Check driftmotion they have them in stock and look at the difference in what you get.

truthfully

i am about to go to iraq, so shipping times and couple grand really dont matter . i want whatever i can get the most horsepower/torque out of, if its possible i want atleast 600 out of it, and ill have about 10-15000 that will end up being put into it. i pretty much plan on completly rebuilding anything i get from the oil pan up. what exactly are the differences in the 1jz and 2jz, and what is the maximum HP/torque you can get out of them, if anyone could tell me or point me in the right direction, when i search for it i just get a bunch of irrelevent bullshit.

OK the major difference between the 1JZ and the 2JZ is .5 liter. the 2JZ is a 3.0 liter and the 1JZ is a 2.5 liter. Sounds major but really isnt. I have seen 1JZ's and 2JZ's push over 1200 hp. 600 hp is not that hard to acheive with either of them but the benifit of the 1JZ is that it comes from the factory with a metal head gasket already installed. It will handle 700+ at the wheels with no major internal mods. When you look at the motors side by side even people I show it to have to take a second glance. Oh and also the 1JZ starts at 280 hp and takes a little stuff like I have to get over 300 at the wheels. The 2JZ starts at 320hp and actually will net you about 270hp at the wheels to start. The big killer is that tranny and driveshaft will eat a lot of HP going to the back.

easiest way to fix the shaft prob, is get a CF shaft.
