Have a Q' on lightweight flywheel and underdrive pully
Hi all, I was wondering if I plan to keep AC, and not using the car for strict strip, and track use, is it worth putting a lightweight flywheel paired with lightweight pullies? Thanks.
|
i cant say anything about the pulleys, as ive never used them, but in theory it would remove some rotating mass, however i dont hear to many mkiii owners using them... on the other side, i have an aluminum fidanza flywheel, and you can feel a weight diference between stock.
edit: as for the ac, it creates relatively no load on the engine unless it is engaged, so as long as its off the pulley will spin freely |
Thanks, I was looking at the Fidanza flywheel, I planned on putting that in it's just that with the pullies it seems like to me that with less wieght turning the with the crank running the ac would really bouge down the engine, but I'm not entirly sure if thats true.

If you change the pullies, leave the crank pulley on. It has a harmonic dampner built into it. Change that and you'll have to completely balance everything in the engine to that pulley.
|
Ohh, big thanks on that one, completly forgot about the balance. I guess I'm not doing the crank pulley anymore, thanks again.
|
Also, at idle, the AC will not be as efficient if you change the damper pully. Although, there might be someone out there that makes a balanced lightweight pully.
