hydraulic fans

ok well we all know that tha 1jz had a hydraulic fan, but im just wondering how it works and does anybody have a diagram? just something new to me cause its so uncommon, ive only seen electric and clutch fans but i never heard of hydraulic fans until i saw it on a jza70's and im just curious about how it works, and i hear that it good since it doesnt have a drive belt or electric power

Ok man here is how it works ots pretty simple really. Remember the fan ECU has to be in play because it controls the speed. The water pump has 2 parts a water pump part and the shaft also goes through and has a cam on it the drives the hydrolic pump off to the side of the water pump. When the temp sensor on the bottom of the radiator reads that the temp is getting up then the ECU drops the cam pin inside the hydro pump and it starts turning. As for hoseing it it goes from the resivior to the pump from the pump to the fan, from the fan to the cooling line in from of the intercooler, and from there to the resivior. I could never find a hydrolic diagram for it but only a few wireing diagrams for it. As for anything else it works pretty good I have never seen mine get hot or even get above operating temp once since I have had it, even when I went to SCCA with it and was running it hard. Oh by the way this is something I just ran into check your throw out bearing on your tranny mine just started making noise and is all rusty inside. I think when they have the clips sitting that part gets jacked.

so i should keep it hydro instead of going electric then huh? and i went to a socal meet yesterday and a guy from driftmotion here in socal showed me how he wired the ecu without extending it, same way you told me, cant wait for a 1j
