US vs. Japanese mkiii

Hey guys im new here, just had some questions about the mkiii.

The US turbo version has a 3.0l turbo with 230 hp
The japanese twin turbo has a 2.5l twin turbo with 320 hp

If you twin turbo the US 3.0l theoretically it should get alot more hp then the twin turboes 2.5l japanese version right?

Also do you guys think it would be better to buy a non-turbo then turbo it so that insuracne is lower, or is it easier to buy the turbo since its already setup with a turbo which means less work?

Thanks

i think the 2.5l twin turbo pulls out 280hp and the mk4 3.0l 2jz-gte pulls out 320hp, i think you got that mixed up

you're probably right..

Any one have an idea than what kind of hp a 3.0l mkiii twin turbo would put out?

200-800hp look at kwnate he has 700+hp

Kwnate's is a heavily modified engine to get his 800 hp, But you can modify the 1jz and get the same amount of power.

The insurance shouldnt be to bad for an older car even if it is turbo, it would be better to buy the turbo instead of an na and then go turbo.

Think of all those Mark 4's out there and how many turbo kits there are for them for a sec. Ok now look into a 1JZ all of those kits fit I have already checked into it with Jotech here in Dallas we took the twins off mine and everything is a perfect match. And also there is no twin turbo 3.0 in Japan the motors over there were the same as here for the most part except in the 90's there they got the 1GGTE and the 1JZGTE. The 1GGTE is a 2.0 twin turbo and the 1JZGTE is a 2.5 twin turbo. The 1JZGTE was basically the first 2JZ in a sense because Toyota took the motor changed the stroke and a few other things and wala. Also from what you are asking about how much HP you can get out of a 1JZ the block will handle 700+ without and mods to the inside that is pretty substantial.

i'm talking about the US version which ws the 3.0liter 7m USA version. the 1jz is 2.5 l. The point i was asking about, was that a twin turboed 7m(3.0l) shoulf have more horsepower than a twin turboes 1jz(2.5l) simply because the 7m is a bigger engine.

bigger isnt always better
