oil cooler
I was looking at an intercooler and it says i will have to relocate the stock oil cooler, My father said that the oil cooler was for the trans fluid but i dont know, i have a 5spd so if what he says is true this wouldnt apply to me and it would make my choose easy.
Thanks in Advance. Corey |
No reason whatsoever to add an intercooler on a non-turbo car.
In fact, it would rob you of HPs. Engine oil cooler could be added to your car. Not trans cooler. |
Well im turbo charging the car lol so it probly wouldnt be a lose in horse power i thought i would get all the facts before i tryed it lol.

you actually found a system for the 7mge..WOW..
if you got an N/A...Just go with a 7mgte motor already and upgrade it from there..be way easier on you and no need to change parts from the N/A to make it a Turbo |

WOW.. Actually i didnt, Im going to have to make one, as for getting a 7mgte motor and doing it, it would cost alot more then just turboing this 7mge, or if i could do it myself hence the tools, or knew how to do it i would to the 7mgte but im going to have to get a shop to put it in and they quoted 1500 for just the 7mge installed thats a 800 dallor 40k mile engine. 700 dallors of labor =( so i would hate to see how much it would cost for the wireing to get done to make the 7mgte engine actually work. My current engine is smoking and a shop says i have a bhq which i dont think is the case, but it did eat the bottom of a spark plug lol. |
There is only an engine oil cooler on a turbo supra. It mounts right next to the intercooler on the drivers side.
There is no trans oil cooler on a 5 spd supra. Only auto supras came with a trans cooler built into the radiator just like any automatic automobile. And not running an engine oil cooler on a turbocharged engine is a very bad idea. |
Are you positive there isnt a oil cooler on the na models?, i found an oil cooler that looks like im going to use to get oil to the turbo.
|
Is you oil cooler connected to anything? Also what size is it?

Yea, I was just making sure you are looking at a oil cooler, not something like the part of the ac system.
|
Yeah I'm positive that non turbo supras do not have an oil cooler. That is what the oil cooler is for. The extra heat from the turbo.
Check the TSRM page LU-13 if you don't believe me. Oil cooler and Relief Valve 7M-GTE ONLY. Your oil filter housing is totally different than a GTE. You have no feed from the filter and no return on the passenger side of the oil pan. Get a GTE oil filter housing, oil pan, oil cooler and lines and you can run an oil cooler on a GE block. |
