Fuel pump.. i think.

Sorry people, seems every time I post something it’s another problem.
Was driving home from work with two other people and my car died. I tried to re-start it, cranked but no fire not even a kick. At first I thought it was ignition but it still cranks. So I’m most likely looking at a fuel pump right? And its and internal fuel pump isn’t it?

How did you get it home did it start or did you have it towed?
This might sound dumb but did you run it out of fuel does your fuel gauge work. I would have to say if all those things work and you didnt run it out of fuel you either have a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump.

It was towed home still has 3/4 of a tank and the fuel filter should have been changed a week ago when I got it tuned up, but they forgot to do my oil change so who knows.

Turn the ignition switch on (dont start engine), remove the fuel filler neck cap and push the small trap door, with a pencil or something. Put you ear close to mouth of the fuel filler neck. Have someone bridege terminals +B and Fp on the diagnostic port you should hear a whirring sound as the pump is powered up. If you hear the whine its working if you dont you should check the following:

*EFI fuse 15-amp
*Ignition 7.5-amp fuse or main EFI relay(located in the fuse panel next to battery)
*Fuel Pump
*wiring and electrical connectors

Theres other tests you can perform, but I would do this one first its easier^^

Hope this helps, try it its real easy.

Check your codes also.

These are the terminals you should bridge on the first pic. VV

Ill try that this morning and see what happens.

AbsoluteSpeed 08-20-2007 05:31 PM

Tested the fuel pump it sounds fine so it’s on to possible electrical problems.

Have you done diagnostic?

AbsoluteSpeed 08-21-2007 05:05 AM

That is being done on wednseday

redmaro 08-21-2007 02:06 PM

You do know that you cant plug in no computer to pull out the codes right? Do it yourself, check the faqs section for the thread on doing a diagnostic.
