87 Supra Turbo

Hi guys, im looking at getting an 87 Supra turbo, and had a few questions.

Firstly, the one im looking at is an 87, silver, 140,000ks lowered, stereo, alarm, turbo timer, full exhaust. Is $7000 a good price for it?

Also, i was won=dering what performance is like in terms of acceleration.

Ive never had any experience with a turbo supra, but have had experience with other cars, so if you could tell me how it would compare to the following cars that would be great:

BA Falcon manual
R32 skyline gtst
93 Celica GT4
VS commodore 6 cyl

Finally, theres no problem with the gasket at the moment, but how much would it cost to upgrade to a metal gasket (i know the head needs machining) (oh and cost includes labour cause i cant do it myself).

Thanks a lot.

performance with acceleration is the supras best feature. they are quick even stock. dont know how it compares to them other cars. but the HG im about to undergo soon

HKS MHG $301.10
machine 200$+ <its all a matter of the shop and what options you choose to do.
ARP studs + Nuts $134.29

Yeah will i wont be modifying, mainly due to lack of time and knowledge (and funds lol). So itll be pretty quick stock? How will it compare to the cars above?

i wouldnt doubt it could beat a celica but its not everyday i drive a skyline :)

couldnt beat a turbo celica gt4? Is it cause the celica is lighter or sumthin?

i really dont know, the way is see it is power to weight will give you most of your answer. the DMV said that my supra weights 3970lbs and i have only added 2 12" subs. i dont know what the stock HP is on a turbo supra. but if it has an intake and full exhaust it may have an extra 50-70hp. then shimming the wastegate to get about 10-11lbs of boost instead of 6.5lbs that will give you a tad bit more power. then your set.

i mean i have
lightweight flywheel
6 puck clutch
shimmed wastegate
greddy rs BOV
3 inch turbo back exhaust - no cats
custom 2.5inch hardpipes upper IC
and it stays up with an STI and im still running the stock airbox

and ill tell you now the exhaust and shimming of the wastegate was the best things i did for that car, its power that will open your mouth for about 3 weeks till you get use to it and you want more and more. :)

hmmm, link isnt working. just takes me to myspace home page.

what does shimming the wastegate mean?

putting spacers (washers) in between the wastegate bolts

basically a poorman's boost controller is what they called it
