hot engine

Alright, im new to this supra forum so bear with me for a bit plz. i was over at supraforums.com....wierd over there....anyways. ive owned my 88 turbo supra with 7mgte, 5 spd for 3 weeks now. i ha that oil on the plug problem last weekend, i got it fixed though. now ive noticed the engine geting extremely hot especially the turbo. im not a noob to cars, but turbos are some thing new to me, but not just the turbo but the whole engine gets hot. i just changed the oil and put in the coolant. im starting to lean towards radiator or intercooler issues. any advise would be appreciated. thanks

What does the temp gauge say?
I'd its jus above the middle part ur jus fine
If there's no white smoke coming out from the radiator or the exhaust ur fine

I felt the same way when I jus got my turbo
It gets hotter than NA motors since
Well the turbo spins at a pretty high rate
Generates a lot of friction, and hot exhaust gases passes right thru it
And the heat from the turbo, plus the heat the engine generates, the heat from the radiator, all mixes togethere and gets suppressed by the hood itself
Creating that very hot engine that you experiencing right now

And by the way, don't get offended
But burning pyro, isn't it ironic that ur fist issue is a hot engine, get it?lol
But don't get pissed
But it jus reminded me of this one guy
His sn was boostedsupra and his issue was, he had no boost at all

welcome to the forum have you changed your head gaskets yet, probably everybody on this forum has or will change them

nope havent done that yet. the guage itself will shoot up to HOT then drop back down to the middle. recently i was in the midde of swapping my gauges andi took the car out for a spin bcuz i had that mysterious oil on the plug problem so i was checking to see if it stall ran, and it did but it felt really hot, yet again, i used to drive a 93 lumina so it could be the turbo throwing me off

U said it shoots up to hot
When does it do it?
Right when you start the car?

If it does how long does it stay up there
And when does it go down to the middle

I'm thinking it could be the gauge itself
Since its 20yrs old, and the stock gauges
Are somewhat inaccurate,
I would get a autometer water temp gauge
If I was you,

Or it could as be the sending unit itself,
But if you're gonna change that,
Might as well change the gauge with an aftermarket one too

funny you say that, im in the process of doing that right now actually, im changing all my gauges cept for the speedo and rpm and fuel. but im hopin its just the gauges
