If you hook up the light wires to the dimmer switch they will turn on when you turn the lights on. The wire you are looking for on the dimmer switch plug is the white with a green stripe. Just go buy some inline splices and splice into that waire and they will light up with the headlight switch. But as for power for the gauges themselves the best way is to tap into the gauge circuit fuse off of the wires on the bakc of the gauge cluster because tieing down to the board on the back of the gauge cluster might have bad consequences. if you short something then everything will go out. any power source that comes on with the key is good like the EFI fuse it is 15 amp and that is what I have my tach tied into.
