Crank Pulley Removal
The crank bolt is out but I can't get the crank pulley to budge even a little.
I've tried prying it off from every angle with an assortment of tools. I don't have a puller. Any suggestions appreciated, Thanks. |
Get underneath the engine with 2 big flathead screwdrivers one on the left side of the pulley and one on the right. And "walk" it off a little at a time, don't pry too hard or you will crack the lower aluminum timing cover. It will take you a while, took me 20 minutes to remove my pulley that way, but it works and costs a lot less than the SST. Work at it for 5 minutes and get up and look how far the pulley has moved away from the lower timing cover, look where the timing marks are and you'll see it move a couple millimeters at a time. Just take your time.

I'm trying that at the moment (and it's going very slowly) heh.
Thanks for the info. |
Jeez this sounds familiar.
I think this one cost me 300 bucks to replace. Be ginger with it, seriously. They are a limited toyota only part. After I broke it....., it was still a bitch to get off. But I did what HH is saying to do. |
Been working at it for over an hour and it seems to have moved half a centimeter on one side and nothing on the other. It refuses to move any more. Any more ideas or am I fkd?
