7mge engine harness

I have a 77 Celica that I'm putting a 7mge into. I got the engine from Foreign Engines and I don't know what year it is. The Serial number is A0159012-C is there away to tell what year it is? I have a harness and ECU from a 86.5 Supra and the connectors are different than what is on the engine, any ideas on what I need to do?

Post up some pics for starters.

The correct connectors can be purchased from your dealer.
Is any of it matching up at all?

You may as well get to know the parts guy at your local dealer.
He's the guy to get the programmed discount. These guys have 3 prices in the pc for each part.
1. These are the people they don't know and will probably never hear from again.
2. This price is a bit less than #1. This is the calm collected customer that just wants parts. Note, this client is layed back and never in a hurry and causes no beef due to that fact.
3. This is the best price of all. It's as low as the parts guy can go. It's usually reserved for repeat clientel of a steady basis.

You can be a 3, just let them know what's up and be cool. When you start spending more money. they'll hook you up. If you live in a rural area. Tell him the name of your farm. That may make it tax exempt.

Gig them before they gig you. Sorry for the rant.

Again: Get us some pics. someone will notice something and be able to tell you.

Did you get the motor without any wiring connected at all?
Normally if its a JDM engine there is at least a harness with it and if your lucky it has an ECU attatched to it. Ive even seen dome that have a harness that is cut at the firewall, what a shame they cant at least pull the connecters through the firewall at least.
The JDM engines I beleive have different injectors on them so you would need to put american ones on. Im not sure if the plugs are different between the two.
Ive seen dome that have throttle bodies with longer necks and two butterflies, I don't know whats up with those.
The 86.5-88 engines have different plugs for the ECU, the former are yellow and the latter are grey, they are keyed different and are not interchangeble. Not sure about the ECU mapping though.

The harness was cut at the engine. How do you post pics?

You are going to have to eat this one dude.

You are trying to put the 7m into a mkii. Your cars wiring harness has to be stripped out. You may call the place you bought the motor from and see if they can hook you up.

Wiring harness's are high dollar man.

Dude. Use my guy.
www.horsepowerfreaks.com

Get the digits......, dial them.
When the automated crap picks up, Dial ext. 103
You'll be speaking to Dave. He's a busy man so keep trying.
Tell him Mike pointed you in his direction.

If he has what you want he'll hook you up with a solid price.

I'm putting the 7m into my 77 Celica. The place I got the engine from has no clue what year it is. I have a Harness out of 86.5 Supra and ECU I paid $120 for The harness has different connector colors on the injectors. So I need to know what year the motor is so I know what harness I need.

My bad.

That's actually hillarious.
I was talking to a friend about doing damn near the same thing.

Get some pics.

I don't know how to do it. I don't post many and when I do i let the wife do it.

I beleive the JDM injectors are yellow, the US are green. The flow rates are less on the JDM ones also. Im not sure how that would work with a US ECU but I have a Japanese ECU that works fine with my car with the Green injectors.
Any engine should work from 86.5 to 92. The only difference as far as I know is that the early ones had 5M cranks and the later ones had 7M cranks.
If ya want to post picks just take xome photos and look at the bottom of your new post and select "manage attatchments" to upload them. They have to be around 100 kb so.
Do you know if anyone else has done this swap? Those engines came with 4 cylinders 2.0 4 bangers didn't they? You also might have to beef up the suspension due to a heavier powerplant and the handling will change with more weight up front.
You might want to do more research on this before attempting it.

This is what it says when I tried to post a pic. File Too Large. Limit for this filetype is 293.0 KB. Your file is 2.00 MB.

f00g00 07-12-2007 12:40 PM

Your going to have to open the file in a program like ACDSee and save it as a jpg and possibly shrink it a little and if your using a digital camera try taking a normal and not extra high quality photo so it comes out smaller.
