Random questions about performance

1. Why would someone advance there timing i read alittle about it but how does it help with power. 2. Whats a 2 step all i know is it make a popping out the tailpipe 3. Whats a turbo timer do. 4. You can buy cam gears that are adjustable what kinda power increase can you get out of it and how does it help also. Thanks to anyone that can answer some of these questions

For your first question advanceing your timeing will make your car fire faster and thus burning more of the fuel and producing a little more horsepower and a little better reaction time. Second question I am not sure what your talking about a 2 step. Third question a turbo timer allows your turbo to cool down by metting the motor run for 30 seconds at idle thus keeping your turbo bearing and oil passages in good shape so if you dont have a turbo then you dont need one. Next cam bears allow you to adjust the cam timeing to speed up your valve train timeing also you can slow it down, Horsepower from these can be gained and lost depending on how you adjust them. The best way to use them is to take your car somewhere with a dyno and adjusting them there.

The 2 step thing i was talking about, it could also be called a launch control. This is a video of what i does.

For me launch control is learning where you slip and keep below that RPM. But I ma not sure what they are doing in those videos but it doesnt look good for your motor. Sounds to me like they are using a blipper and basically what that does is lets your car rev at red line over and over to build up your boost and they are dropping the clutch. Or they are just letting off the gas but the back fires look like more for show like they are playing around.

go here it gives you an explaination of what it is. http://www.aempower.com/ViewTopic.as...=25&menu=falseIt is more set up for drag racing and letting you get your launch perfect by setting a rev limit of what your best launch RPM is if you drag race a lot I would go for it but if you are into drifting or SCCA autocross like me it is of no use then.

Advancing and retarding ur timing
Can move the power-curb
Advancing it gives you more bottom-end torque
But takes top-end power

A 2-step, or an anti-lag is basically self-explanatory
It allows you to build boost on line,
Hence no boost lag when you take off
Not really that advicable, unless u got good drag radials if ur racing in the streets,
U spin out without boost on the especially with a rwd car,
Awd cars use this since they can hook on the line, making the win easier for them

Turbo timers allows your engine to basically settle down
By letting as much oil as possible to settle down, to the pan, lowering the chance of it building up in ur turbo lines, and bearing to prevent it from burning, and extending the life of your turbo

And there no power in adjustable cam gears, unless you tune it,and it makes it easier to mess with your timing
