How much did you pay to replace your head gasket?
And is it worth it to try my self?

^ Just try it your self. Once you get into it it becomes pretty easy.

Mill the head $100, gaskets $70 to $80 on ebay thats a w/ a graphite HG, ARP head studs $120. Getting started is the hard part.

If you go without it you will just end up walking again. Much sooner than later dude.

The block has to be resurfaced as well. Do not cut corners on these cars. You'll pay dearly for it. After you just finished paying what you already have.

Don't half ass it man.

Toyota will do it for 5 grand. That's the price they quoted me. On my 91 na.

I took the 5 large and bought my own parts and did the work myself. It's a relatively easy engine to work on if you have any mechanical apptitude.

I would urge you to atleast try it yourself. But if you don't think you can then you simply don't think you can and once you start..., there isn't really a point of no return. You'll be stuck doing it if you get into it at all.

So when it comes done to it I have to pull the engine and get it resurfaced?

I only ask because it offers a new challenge I have not had the privilege of pulling a motor!

Dude there's nothing prestigous about it.

I lapped my block while it was in the car. Some would say don't do that and some say it's fine. The bottom line is you yourself know your limits and abilities.

Don't start it if you don't want to see it through.

Stripping it down to the head is all you have to do. All though it's smart money spent on the decking of the block. I just don't have the tools to pull it, so I made due.
