Went through Emissions today....

Just thought I'd post this, if my scanner wasn't a piece of shit I'd scan the report.

My 87 supra weighs 3665 with nobody in it, no spare tire, a 60pc Husky pro tool set and a quarter tank of gas.

Emissions test results:
HC (ppm) emissions 66; Limit is 167
CO (%) emissions .17; Limit .53
NOx (ppm) emissions 161; Limit 1167

This test was conducted in CT.

Already ordered my 3" test pipe and 3" stainless catback $670 total shipped. Just have to decide which downpipe to buy. I want one with a flex section and one that deletes the stock turbine elbow. But HKS is the only one with a flex section but bolts to the stock elbow just like a stock downpipe.

Z'mnypit 04-27-2007 03:49 PM

Im glad we dont have emissions here in bama!

Supra_87_mk3 04-27-2007 04:43 PM

yeah. in ohio we don't have it either...not yet!.. but i bought my car in nashville and it was a pain.

ebang 04-27-2007 05:53 PM

here in Ontario anything 87 and older we don't have to get tested

mr.w 04-27-2007 08:09 PM

We have emissions in some parts of Ohio. Mine passed with flying colors though.

west_side_supra 04-27-2007 08:27 PM

haha i have to do it here in washington, although i havent had to do it yet since i have only owned the car for about 3-4 months i know it wont pass, i can smell the richness.

supramacist 04-27-2007 08:45 PM

Aaaaaaah, the smell of richness. I used to smell more rich than I do these days and then I bought a supra. Now I only remember the smell of richness, lol.

I know..., I'm only joking.

mrnickleye 04-27-2007 11:59 PM

AND.. not all smog machines are equal.

I just did mine last week. Had to go to a Test Only center, so I ran it up on my machine, and it was beautiful.

Then, I leave it running, drive 3 blocks to the other place, which has the same brand machine as mine, and shit if i didn't just barely pass.

I found out later that his machine needed servicing.

I passed...because mine was super clean to begin with....but I guess those poor suckers with dirtier exhausts are all failed that day.

There is a wide margin of 'legal' machine calibration. I had just had my machine serviced the day before, while the other guys machine really needed it.

IHateHacks 04-29-2007 01:45 AM

I showed a bunch of tech buddies of mine and they think it passed with "flying colors", I know that saying is over rated but they see ALOT of newer cars that pass with higher numbers. Plus alot of people say, "Yeah mine passed with flying colors", but I don't see a sheet to prove it. I want to see another supra that passed with lower numbers than me.

And I've never seen a car with lower NOx than that. 161?!?! That is unheard of for a 20 year old turbo car. I guess I must have done sumtin right when I replaced my head gasket. Cleaning out the EGR passages do WONDERS for this engine.

Well as of 9am this morning, I took the whole exhaust off my car. Turbine elbow, downpipe, cat and catback are now in my junk parts pile. Took me about an hour because I had to die grind the bolts off the cat. I had the downpipe off in 20 minutes, it's only the about the 20th time its been off. I'm ordering a blitz spec nur 3" stainless and a 3" stainless TMS downpipe with built in turbine elbow on monday. My 3" stainless test pipe came in yesterday, it sure is purdy. Should have all of it by the end of this week. I will post pics when I get it.

IHateHacks 05-01-2007 03:23 PM

Just received my NUR spec exhaust, just waiting on my titanmotorsports downpipe.

"All that chingy chang chong talk, I can't understand you....."

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00620.jpg

So that's how it goes!!! I love Japan, anything that comes out of Japan is far superior than any american made garbage. ARP is american made so there are exceptions.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00621.jpg

Thats my custom built yellow pc in the background, "dude, its not a dell...."

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00622.jpg

Vrooooommm..... Yeah can you tell I'm excited, I'm acting like a little kid here :)

Total cost, downpipe testpipe catback with shipping $1022. And yeah my mommy and daddy didn't pay for it. I work hard for my money and spend it wisely. Matter of fact, they would shit a brick if they knew how much I spent.

supramacist 05-01-2007 04:18 PM

GodDamit......, That is BEAUTIFULL.

I stopped telling my old man what I give for tools or parts because he always has to spend the rest of the convo telling me how ignorant I was for either...,

Not buying the tools cheap enough, like used $hit from a pawn shop. All the way too..., I guess you had to have one of the most expensive HG's I could find.

I don't have time for his opinion if it's negative and he's my old man. SO that means the rest of you are preaching to the chior!

NICE A$$ NICE, man. Makes me want one. But the 3 inch would be overkill on an NA.

west_side_supra 05-01-2007 11:49 PM

haha i bet im louder :) im running right off of a 3inch defcon DP, thats it, my 3inch test pipe is being welded up again. and then im going to put that on. then it will go through the stock pipes to a aftermarket like ebay muffler, dont know where my friend got it but i used it. should be interesting sounding.

ddmcse 05-01-2007 11:54 PM

kewl pipe huh ?!!

you can hear mine idle on my web site

IHateHacks 05-02-2007 01:08 AM

West_side I doubt it, running through the stock 2" piping is a major restriction. Ebay muffler? Yeah, thats gay. I really don't care how loud it is, its about performance. A full 3" exhaust with no cats is dyno proven to make an extra 30whp on a stock turbo supra.

ddmcse, yeah I know what it sounds like, that day you picked up the lapping tool from me and you drove by my house I was in the middle of my house and I heard you. I was like "what is THAT!?" I ran to the nearest window and almost shit myself, because it was a supra. Then I remembered that you were coming over today and I put 2 and 2 together. At first I thought it was just some supra from around my town. But there are no modded turbo MK3's in my town. Shit, I don't think there are any turbo MK3's besides mine in town.

mrnickleye 05-02-2007 05:44 AM

Was that emissions test at idle, 2500rpm, dyno, or what?

Here in L.A. County and other heavily populated ones, its a dyno test at 15mph, and then 25mph.

The others, its at idle, then 2500rpm.

Some rural counties still don't have testing.

j3pz 05-02-2007 05:52 AM

my county dont need have emmisions tests... just have to pass inspections. we have a small rural county with a naval base that attracts alot of jobs and business. county and navy base made a deal that we dont need emmissions test... sweet!

IHateHacks 05-02-2007 12:07 PM

It was done on a chassis dyno in 2nd gear at around 3K rpm for about 2 minutes.

In CT they got rid of safety inspections but we have emissions testing. So your car can have no headlights, no seatbelts, no windshield wipers, no doors, and the body can be rotting off the frame but as long as you pass emissions, you're good to go! What a joke......

mrnickleye 05-02-2007 03:33 PM

The cost of living here in Calif is so high that any little car thing can get you a stiff penalty.

My friend just got a $100 ticket because his front license plate was on the dash (which a cop told him would be OK)
and not mounted to the front bumper.

IHateHacks 05-03-2007 05:40 PM

I was bored today, so I thought I'd mock up the test pipe and cat back and see how she looks.

This pic doesn't do it justice. You can see this exhaust from a mile away.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...sfolife/ex.jpg

It looks pissed. Gonna go do some Honduh hunting tomarrow.....

My TMS downpipe with built in turbo elbow is coming 10am tomarrow morning. Just have to sort out the gasket issue because they didn't give me enough.

IHateHacks 05-04-2007 09:33 PM

Let me just start off by saying TITAN MOTORSPORTS SUCKS!!!! DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!! Ok I got it out of my system.

But seriously, first off, the 4 bolt turbo flange on the downpipe was bent. Good thing I own a big fuckin hammer. Then the piping was too close to the studs and I couldn't get the nuts on. Then the O2 sensor BARELY reached the connector. They provided no gasket and no hardware. They will be getting a piece of my mind when I call them. They obviously don't have quality control because this downpipe was a piece of shit. Good thing I'm handy wit dem dare tools.....

But besides the little hiccups, now my supra sounds like a race car. Very loud, turbo spools instantly and its sooooo funny watching the stock boost gauge peg tha fuck out way past 8+. I'm going to take a picture of it, prolly make it my sig pic..... My aftermarket boost gauge was reading around 8 so the stock gauge is a little ludacris lol.

IHateHacks 05-05-2007 02:23 AM

Wow, its just a matter of time before I get pulled over.

Here's a pic of the TMS downpipe.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00627.jpg

The only good thing I have to say about the TMS pipe is it came with a flex section. Because without it, there would be NO POSSIBLE WAY it would have fit the test pipe or catback.

ddmcse 05-06-2007 11:11 AM

yep it's only a matter of time
stay out of wallingford thats where i got pulled over 1st

IHateHacks 05-09-2007 02:41 PM

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00643.jpg

That was at about 3K rpm. It goes higher, I was just running out of road, I was in 3rd gear.

I love the sound of the turbo spooling, it sounds so pissed.

west_side_supra 05-09-2007 07:47 PM

haha my gauge does that to, i love the speed it pops up there..

IHateHacks 07-03-2007 01:17 AM

Well I finally got pulled over today. I received a warning. He got me pulling out of a parking lot, I didn't even get it over 2K RPM. Failure to have a front license plate, and improper muffler. Thats what the warning said. Improper muffler, lol! Then he told me to take it off, there is no need for it he said. I pretty much agree with him, I'm thinking of having a stainless 3" straight pipe made in place of the NUR spec axle-back. I'd love to see their face with just 3" straight pipe off the turbo, no muffler. Then they would hit me with unusual noise or some other stupid law.

oowee623 07-03-2007 05:11 AM

haha thats whats up im surprised, i didnt get pulled over when my stock exhaust broke off right after the cat and i was running with no muffler for a few days, i dont really like loud exhausts case think about it, when you drop off your girlfriend late at night youre bound to wake up her parents before you even stop at her house, cant really be stealthy with loud exhausts.

plaaya69 07-03-2007 05:56 AM

Hey IHateHacks, Can I ask you where did you get that TMS downpipe and how much did it cost? because it looks bad ass and i seen a few like those but that one you have looks nice and neet for some reason.

Thanks again.

88Tsupra 07-03-2007 07:25 AM

nice hack

lmao Hack i have no front lisence plate either gunna put mines on tomorrow...but to your idea of going three inch straight back i thought about doing that its just the tip would b so attaching to the cops of long beach..plus until you been to signal hill you dont know races cops...got pulled over because i wouldnt speed up to let him pass apperantly i had loud music when my window was up with a stock sound system in a honda accord

EDIT..he apperantly told me he pulld me over for loud music which honestly it wasnt at all asshole just tailgated me

oowee623 07-03-2007 08:08 AM

yea cops in long beach are assholes i got pulled over right in front of my house just by switching parking spots with my sisters boyfriend apperently i didnt stop at a stop sign pulled me over cause i had a hoodie on pulling out of an alley, then he made assumption about me bein in a gang n shit

IHateHacks 07-03-2007 12:26 PM

plaaya- I bought it from titanmotorsports.com, it really is a nice downpipe but it was hard to install. It was $349+shipping. My whole exhaust cost $1022 shipped. The nut that goes to the bottom stud closest to the engine would not go on the dp out of the box. Some "modification" was needed. Plus mine came with a bent exhaust housing flange. I don't recommend their dp. The next downpipe I buy will be the ddp from BIC performance.

plaaya69 07-03-2007 06:29 PM

Thanks for the info. I was either thinking of gping with this DP or the cooleze one.

Thanks again.

supramacist 07-03-2007 07:27 PM

Sig Hill is technically not Long Beach. Or wasn't when I lived there. Used to have a condo on temple.

88Tsupra 07-03-2007 07:31 PM

yea true sry they broke off from long beach buh still
