Bov
ok so this is a issue that had never been solved, bought me a BOV about 4 months ago, and it has never worked. its a HKS SSQV knock off and i have tried about anything to get the damn thing to open. i have lubed the valve and cut the spring to relieve pressure thinking that the spring was maby to hard, i have even taken the spring out and tried to see if would open. the valve moves freely and the only thing that is sticking is a little rubber diphram inside of it on the vacume side of it. ill draw a little diagram showing what the ssqv looks like on the inside. but any ideas would be helpfull.

LOL..., see if you were na you would be driving right now.
Sorry, couldn't resist. |
oh im driving it im just getting worried about the amount of compression surge. hehe. turbo's kick ass

|

|
3:55 am. I'm done.
|
hmmm so why buy a knock off part for your high performance machine? :frown:
|
I have this BOV and it works beautifully, I love the sound and it is LOUD even with stock 7psi boost.
Now, did you just buy the BOV or did you buy a kit? Because mine came with a little black check valve that goes inbetween-that little nipple that supplies air to chamber B in that diagram-and the hard pipe its suppost to connect to. Because that is how a BOV opens from the vacuum that is created in chamber B. |
because the job i was working with only gave me 6.50$/hr my paychecks where about 120-200$
and you know the deal with that, goto pay gas/cigerettes/blah blah blah. and after time you have about 20$ left if your lucky. so i spent 50$ on a knock off. mm and i bought the kit, it came with the little pipe with the adapter already welded on. it that the little round black thingy that goes on the vacume line. ive been trying to figure out what that was. i threw it out or lost it one of the 2 like this little thingy thingy here be another picture http://exoticspeedinside.com/eBay/BO...34%2820%29.JPG where do i obtain one of these, is that the vacume filter? |
Yep thats it. The black thing with the 2 vacuum fittings. Its a check valve and is most likely the reason its not opening. A check valve only allows air to flow one way.
Don't know where you can get a new one, maybe call the company you ordered the bov from. |
haha ok so funny story, driving to goto school started driving and then the car was just fine but after taking it out of every gear it would keep dieing. so i pulled it off to the side and looked and the BOV was wide open, pushed on it and it was completly open, so i took off the vacume line and it shut, i was like really suprised at first and also very confused. so i just put the adjustment screw in all the way, wasnt long enough to tighten the spring so i took the little nut off, and it then was long enough i have it in there as far as it will go put the houseing back on and started driving and WWWAAA BBBBBBBEEEEEESSSHHHHH. freaking loud. i love it. scared some kids getting off the bus. she was drinking something in a huge cup and she got scared enough where she spilt it all over herself. i love this thing already, oh none the less she was wearing a white shirt :). so i tweaked it up a little its opening at perfect time. before compression surge "so right when the throttle is let off" and stays open a little at idle. no fluttering nothing. that screw is just perfect lenght. is there a place i can get a replacement spring inside of it. all the parts that work on the REAL HKS BOV will work on the Knock off model.
oh and also i noticed that it will blow off when im not moving and i just rev the motor. i have been told that the BOV on the supras arnt supose to do it, it will only blow off when in motion. im not complaining though :) |
nice. hey where did u get the knock of BOV from
|
just look here
its all BS Ebay shit. enjoy :) |
Glad you fixed it. It's probably opening when you rev it in neutral because you cut the spring, not a good idea. Mine doesn't blow off when revving in neutral.
See I told you its loud :bouncy: |
