Big debate

Some of the old school guys in a different forum are saying that oem head bolts are fine if you are doing a complete back to stock restoration.

I believe you should use arp studs or bolts. I preferr studs on my na.

How many of you guys have zero mods done to your supras'???

Are any of you running toyota oem replacement head bolts???

If you're staying pretty much stock then stock bolts will work fine. The problem isn't the bolts, its the low factory torque that kills the headgasket. Of course you never reuse stock bolts...

How many people with supras' are keeping them strictly oem, ZERO mods.

You just answered that...

If you're shooting for 400+ hp it would be a good idea to look into a MHG and Arps. If you're just rebuilding and not shooting for that number a stock headgasket and new stock bolts will be fine. Torque them to 72ft lbs and your good.

I was wondering does it matter how your block is to use a MHG

Yes it does matter, You would want to prepare the block right the first time. Not a couple thousands of miles. You need to have the block resurfaced to RA specs(depending on what MHG you are using).

My debate was how many of us have supras with ZERO mods done to them.

Only a couple if any is my guess.
