Why Me Supra Gods, why Me ?
I've only driven my turbo supra for only 4 months or so after my metal headgasket rebuild nad yesterday after a long trip I decided to take a look at the coolant reservoir with the engine running and noticed it was bubbling....arghhhhh....... so i decided to take it to the dealership where I work at and perform a headgasket leak test and it came out positive........arghhhhh.........
I guess after spending the 150 dollars for a titan motorsports metal headgasket and arp studs I will now simply buy a stock toyota headgasket and slap it on..... I know I was gambling when i decided to o0nly resurface the head and not the block too.......and this is what I get for gambling.......... Oh well, at least now I have a zipper installed in that engine bay and should be able to do it in one day....as long as all the parts are available.... I guess this time it will be a lot more cheaper than last time since arp studs and the stupidly expensive turbo gaskets have allready been replaced... Maybe next time I should drive my baby a little easyer and not too harsh like I was this time around.....I sometimes forget this car is and will be a classic sports car....... wish me luck compadres!!!! |
eBay
Toyota Turbo Supra 3.0L Head Gasket Set NEW 87-93 $146. Elsewhere on the net, $188. Ishino is OEM (but improved gasket) |
:nono: should've had the block machined and lapped. You were almost asking for another blown head gasket. The block and head should be fine for a stock gasket now just as long as they are very clean.

You can get by without doing the block if you have any diy instincts and be just fine. But the head is another story. It has to be done no ifs ands or buts. So that's 500$
I wouldn't use an MHG unless it is the top of the line and if you go stock toyota..., use that permatex copper spray. It helps. For real. Dump your wd40 and switch to pb blaster. You'll never use dw40 again. You can feel free to blast me if you like..., it won't hurt my delicate sensitivities. LOL. |
ya that will happen. It wasnt so much how you were driving it. Just when you dont resurface both the block and the head, its almost a gaurentee its going to go again sooner than later. Good luck man!

The upside is next time you can rebuild the entire engine. The down side is all the money you waisted the first time.
