Hi everybody!
I'm thinking of buying a supra turbo -91 but the one I was testdriving had som questionmarks when we left... First of all when I pushed the car at round 4-5000 a strange noise became revield. I could hear it very clearly inside the car and it sounded almost like the wind blowing through a narrow space. It was like the wind howling or something..but as soon as I shifted to a higher gear, it stoped..what could that be? As soon as I got back to the salesman I told him about the "whistle" but he seemed to be surprised and started to race the engine to see where the noise came from...but therer was no noise then?! But when we popped the hood (engine still running) there was something sounded lika a hiss from a airpipe or something...we couldn't find where it came from and it didn't rise when we hit the accelorator.. I hope someone could help me with this and I would be greatful for any suggestions you may come up with.. Thank you for your time, take care! /Jonas |
mine does it all the time! the turbo makes this noise when spinning at high rates of speed(turbine not car). you should have noticed power when this sound occured. at a stop/park, you cant really hear it. unless, you have an intake, aftermarket bov and exhaust.

heheehee
the car would appear to have a minor boost leak/vacuum leak bit of engine start sprayin around you'll soon find it, just make sure you get a warranty with it just in case something does go very wrong |
and just remember folks, if your in the US , and you buy a supra from a dealer, even if they sell it as is, you still have 30 days if something major happens to turn around and walk back in and get your money back, its a federal law from what my salesman told me (He sold me my 89 supra, and he two supras himself)

it can be your turbo boost or it can have a air leak. double check your turbo pipe if a turbo.

^ already been posted... and if you read the first post you will note that it is turbo
