MK III transition model, '87 to 88'?

I'm relatively new to the Supra scene, and got a question about a vehicle I'm considering buying and restoring. The VIN indicates that it's a 1988 (Nov, '87), but the data-plate on the firewall indicates an '87 for the powerplant. How much (if any) problem am I going to have with subtle differences between the two years, and where are they likely to show up during the restore?

Many thanks...

the 86.5 to 88 are almost the same thing
the 89 is the transitional year so it has diffrent colors in the wiring harness
and the 90 to 92 ones should be the same too

if im wrong, be free to correct me
