Start up and engine dies.

Well for about a month or two I've noticed that driving my car around and stopping at a stop light my rpms bog a little while sitting idle, so I rev it a bit higher for a couple seconds and the rpms stabilize. This started to occur more often and lately when I start the car it just dies immediately after. Then I fire it up again and notice the rpms are bogging and I have to rev it up higher to keep it from dying. Then all is fine as if nothing was wrong. About three months ago I replaced the spark plugs and the car was idling perfectly, and until about a month ago this started to happen. Any ideas as to what I should consider replacing? From what I know the fuel pump might be getting a bit old and I'm not sure how old the distributor is.

spark plugs again. your running rich?

Drag0na5h 01-09-2007 04:47 PM

Yeah it seems that way. I was running rich before I put the new sparks in. As soon as I changed them my exhaust smell was perfect, but after this problem came around I noticed a lot more moisture from my exhaust again. I'll take a look at the sparks again to make sure they're all fitted correctly.

Drag0na5h off topic but i love your wheels!!! anyway mine did the same but i have not replaced my sparks yet. got about 200 miles this last tank smells like gas bad and also lots o mostuire maybe bad o2??

Wierd, but I was driving it around today and the car was actually performing very well. I didn't notice any of the symptoms I reported about earlier, but I will check for any fluid buildup around the spark plugs. Earlier in the Fall my coolant hose leaked right over the entire valve cover/spark plug channel and drenched my spark plugs. That was the reason my spark plugs were replaced. It's possible the installation has become a bit faulty so I'll double check and make sure all is tight and snug. O2 sensor was replaced in the summer.

About the wheels I got em cheap on Ebay. Just had to get that staggered look for the ride. They are 17s (215Front & 255Rear) by the way. (Tires are still affordable at that size.)

i guess the black and white just goes good, the ride height looks good to. I think it has to to with the weather (dry 55 low 60's). My car was just fine today no sputter or trying to die, but still has a slight miss at idle, and the gas smell. Hopefully when my plugs and wires come in it will all go away.
