7M series...Interference?

as posted,

Is this an interference engine?
If a timing belt breaks, can I say ByeBye to the valves/pistons?

Thanks!

I don't get what your trying to say
R u sayin that the 7m was jus to buy time for toyota to come up for another engine?

A little more explanation can help a lot

The 7M-GTE engine is a non-interference engine.

Supra2NR that means the piston will not contact the valves if the timing belt breaks. Some engines' valves open so far that if they stayed open for the complete revolution of the crankshaft (like when the timing belt breaks) they would bend when the piston came to TDC (Top Dead Center).

Non-interfering.
Belt breaks. Not rods, pistons etc...........

BUT.....when that belt breaks on the freeway in San Diego (any freeway will do), and you are in the fast lane doing 80mph, it is REALLY FUN (not !) trying to get over to the off-ramp without getting slammed by everyone else doing 80mph.

Trust Me !!! But....here I am telling you.
