Have an 86.5 supra with the 1jzgte conversion. I'm Having a problem with it stalling or idling really low in the first fifteen minutes of driving it'll idle on 350-400 rpm really roughly. At first i thought it might just be the idle too low but it seems that if i let it stall once it fixes itself. I changed the fuel filter(had car six years and haddent changed it) thinking it might be partly blocked but it made no difference. any ideas?

have you tried doing a diagnostic? see what codes you pull up... there's a quick write up in the faq section on how to do it :)

let me know what codes ya get

JUSTBEEN TOFAQS SECTION. IT SAID I HAVE TO LINK T AND E1 IN THE DIAGNOSTICS. I HAVE AN E1 PIN BUT NOT A T PIN. I HAVE Te1 Te2 Ts Tc Tt. which is it?

tried and failed. tought i might not be gettin a good connection but i messed around with it heaps and couldn't get the engine light to come on at all. When the ignition is in the on possi and the car isnt runnin, surely the engine light should be on?

usually they do one of two things when in diagnostic mode... it will flash constantly or not flash at all
if either of these happen
you have no fault codes

the 1jz is renowned for it's odd idling at times... no one has really found a specific cause for it...

a real pain the ass i know... but i spose thats the sacrifice you make when you decide to leave bhg town and head over to 1j town :P

fair call. i miss my old 7mgte sometimes, boost realy hit you hard... my mate has a soarer with the jz and his idles low sometimes but not as bad as mine. It's a pain in the ass pullin up to the lights with half your foot on the brake and the other half on the accelerator to keep it goin. might just up the idle and see how that goes. Just means when it is runnin normally revs might get a bit high. I'll mess around and see what happens.

well if you do ever find out what causes it... lemme know so i can tell the rest of the world lol ;)

Supra Guestalby 04-21-2005 02:09 PM

yeah no worries. but if i find the problem, i'm takin some credit! hehe... Don't know if i'm happy that i'm not the only one with the problem. The problem sounds like something real simple...

suprra_girl 04-21-2005 02:21 PM

LOL

i'll be happy to spread the word you found the infamous jz idling problem ;)
